Has anyone notice the packs of rollerbladers on Center City streets recently? They seem to have the authority to stop traffic. It seems kind of dangerous. We went out last night on Passyunk ave. to drop 10 bucks on a couple of gelatos. As we left the joint the sound of a woman singing Opera graced the air. Across the street was a bunch of oldtimers and a accordion at the Italian club. The young lady sang 2 songs to much applause from bystanders and people walking by. Then out of the crowd came a Asian dude, This guy could sing! It was remarkbale to see a Asian guy sing Italian Opera. Talk about a blend of the cultures. The oldtimers were in awe, and enjoyed every word as the rest of us. The point is, this was the kind of commeradery that flowed thru most of South Philly for years, when people who don't know each other are all of a sudden having a good time. As I looked around at the crowd, most were oldtime residents. The thing I noticed about todays new residents, they are stuck up and elitist. I have been going to Ruby's Buffet on Columbus Drive for a while now and so far I think it is really good. However, I want to try some other places. What other asian (e.g. Chinese, Korean, Japanese) buffets are available that serve seafood for less than $10? I tried Minado, which was ~$20/p, but that is a little expensive, and I'm not that crazy about sushi. Those with parking is preferred.
