Canvas Clash

It just gets better and better! We were lucky again to have a beautiful day for the July 7th Canvas Clash, and the turn-out this time was double what it was in June. We had Dave Mass, John Fitzpatrick, and Dewey Saunders composing a green roof theme on a 10′ x 4′ canvas, and Bob, Nose, and Toro were getting down on two steel tanks. Big thanks to all of our sponsors, and to all the nice newspaper write-ups we got.

Don’t miss the final Canvas Clash this Saturday, August 4th - we have Leon Rainbow, Kasso, Vorcan, Todd Marrone, and SAGAMOOR painting, a whole bunch of new art vendors, and FREE burgers and hot dogs from Flexcar! With the help of Mural Arts Program, Pose2 will be there, starting a mural on the back wall where the canvas was in July. So, gather some friends and come check out the art, grab some food, and maybe even some sun!

Freshout presents Illinois

On Saturday July 28th at 7 p.m., Freshout presents a showcase open to all ages with some of the area’s best homegrown indie-rock bands at World Cafe Live, located at 3025 Walnut Street in Philadelphia. The line-up is headlined by Illinois, the Bucks County natives with national acclaim on Ace Fu Records, and The Sw!ms, Scranton’s finest on Prison Jazz Records who bring “impeccable pop instincts with candy-striped psychedelia” (Philadelphia Weekly). Also tying the night together are performances by supporting acts The New Motels, with a new album Domestic Life releasing this month on Prison Jazz Records, and Peasant, getting ready for his fall tour promoting his upcoming album On The Ground on Paper Garden Records.

Canvas Clash!

Next weekend marks the first Saturday in July, and you know what that means...Canvas Clash is back on the rooftop of Whole Foods at 10th and South for more dancing, music, and performance art! The first Canvas Clash was lined with vendors selling their work and artists collaborating on canvasses, while DJs Phsh and Luke Raws kept the music spinning all day for breakers and kids getting down on the dance floor. On July 7th, we're hitting you with more...Dave Mass, John F. and renowned illustrator Dewey Saunders will be painting live to reflect July's theme, A Greener Philadelphia, and street artist/lighting designer/promo extraordinaire Mikey Madnez will be composing a piece live too:) We're also bringing Bob and Nose back, this time painting on 3D objects - turning junk to masterpieces. Phsh and Luke Raws will return with special guests Jon Solomon and Dev79, spinning a mix of funk, rock, hip-hop, and summer feel-good grooves while the dance floor heats up! We've even got some sprinklers hooked up to keep you cool, so don't sleep on this one.

Freshout presents

Hip Hop jam with breakers, mic slayers, b-boys and live paintings!

As you may know, we always come through on the clutch when it comes to throwing an event on short to no notice. So when World Cafe Live called us a couple days ago after one of their shows fell through, we got on the horn and pulled together what's going to be an amazing night.

The house band, with members of Grimace Federation and Philadelphia Slick, will be bananas - I'm talking two drum kits, a horn section, double guitars, the whole nine. While the band rocks, we've got seven of Philly's top emcees ripping through writtens and freestyles in a classic mic cypher. After that, two of our city's most lethal breaker squads are going to hop on stage and break, pop & lock along with the band. Of course we've got our main man DJ Luke Raws crushing the breaks, funk, and boom bap all night long. And to close things out, what better band than our good friends the Subliminal Orphans to leave you all sweaty on the dance floor?

Almost forgot, Dave Mass and Skrybe from Rebellion Customs will be gettin' busy on the canvasses, painting live throughout the event. You may even get lucky and get some free give-aways from our boys at KRU Records, Ropeadope Digital, and Pedestrian. Here's the best part...bring two friends to the show and you get in free! Just click the hit up june22.freshout.us above and you're golden:) Hey we try to look for you, ya know? See you there on Friday, and tell everyone you know!
