Scion's Installation 5 Tour Arrives In Philadelphia - July 3rd


Scion’s Installation 5 Art Tour, which will benefit Creative Capital, arrives in Philadelphia, PA. in July. The opening reception will take place Friday, July 3 from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. at T & P Fine Art, 1143 South 9th St., Philadelphia, PA 19147. Artists AJ Fosik, Asylm, Patrick Martinez, Something In The Universe will be in attendance along with Beautiful Decay’s Amir Fallah. DJ Apt One will be spinning.

The fifth installment of Scion’s Installation Art Tour was launched in October 2008. The program is designed to give exposure to both established and emerging artists.
Installation 5: Self Portraits highlights a diverse array of artists from around the world and will visit nine cities in total including Miami, New York, Portland, Minneapolis, San Jose, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. The tour features new markets Phoenix and Detroit, where the show kicked off.

For Installation 5 each artist was asked to create his or her literal, or non-literal interpretation of the theme 'Self-Portraits'. Video art will be included for the first time in the tour’s five-year history, alongside painting and photography. Artists on

The final tour stop will be at Scion’s own 4,200 square foot Installation L.A. gallery space where all artwork will be auctioned off to the public, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go toward Creative Capital. The goal of Creative Capital is to create an artistic home and supportive community to nurture some of the country’s most extraordinary artistic creators and to help provide the skills and confidence for these artists to realize their most ambitious dreams. Creative Capital has advanced the careers of 411 grantees through financial support and advisory services, and has reached over 2,200 additional artists through its Professional Development Program in workshops across the country. Last year’s Installation 4 tour raised over $50,000 on behalf of Art >From Scrap, an organization encouraging creative expression in the arts and promoting a greater understanding of environmental issues. Over the last four years Scion’s Installation tour has raised more than $190,000 for art-related non-profit organizations.

Scion Installation 4 - It's A Beautiful World - Philadelphia

Los Angeles - February 2008- This July, Scion launched the fourth installment of the innovative Scion Installation Art Tour entitled: ‘It's A Beautiful World.' The theme; "It's a Beautiful World" was interpreted by each artist, in one of four mediums— painting, photography, sculpture, and collage. This year's Installation tour will visit nine cities and feature a diverse array of artists from around the world.

This year's artists include: Andrew Pommier, Andy Mueller, Angela Boatwright, Blaine Fontana, Blek LeRat, Books llll, Caia Koopman, Chris Yormick, Cody Hudson, Dalek, David Choe, Eye One, Francesco LoCastro, Freddi C, J. Shea, James Jean, Jeff Soto, Joshua Krause, Kelsey Brookes, Kenton Parker, Kofie, Mel Kadel, Michael Sieben, Mike Giant, Rammellzee, RETNA, R. Grimes, Ron English, Sam Flores, Sage Vaughn, Skwerm, Tim McCormick, Travis Millard and more.

The tour comes to Philadelpia's F.U.E.L Collection on March 7th. Artists in attendance include Cody Hudson and Ron English. The opening reception will take place from 7-10pm at 249-51 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA, 19106 with musical entertainment from DJ Junior. Scion Installation 4 has visited the following cities around the country: Austin, Texas; Chicago, Ill.; Miami, Fla.; New York, N.Y.; Seattle, Wash; and Boston, Mass. Each tour stop will kick off with an opening event for local art aficionados, press, and other urban tastemakers.

The tour just completed a successful stint in Miami for the prestigious Art Basel event. Six of this year's artists designed custom balloons, each eight-feet in diameter, which were flown over the grounds of the Raleigh Hotel. Also on display were the custom designed Scion art cars from Dalek, Sage Vaughn, and Ron English.

The final tour stop and auction will be in Los Angeles, at the new Scion Installation L.A. space in the Culver City Arts District. All of the artwork will be auctioned off to the public, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go toward art related charities. In previous years, the auctions have raised more than $110,000 for charity.

For four years the tour has evolved, and each year the medium with which the artists showcase their work changes. The first year featured Scion xB panels and xA sculptures, while the second year presented art on three foot by eight foot wood panels. Each artist's unique style was introduced on three-foot long polyurethane Scion tC sculptures for the third tour.
