HammRadio.com is proud to congratulate our founder and editor, Mike Cunningham, Time's Person of the Year. In the beginning of the year, Cunningham predicted that 2006 will be the "year of the Cunny." But it was not without challenges and setbacks. But through it all, "the Cunny" perservered.
In the last year, Cunningham promised more podcasts in 2006 than 2005. And the 54 "Proof of Concept" podcasts recorded in 2006, perhaps didn't outnumber the 71 in 2005, recorded in just in less than half a year, Cunningham says, "Even though there were less in number, they were certainly filled with more laughs. So really there was just MORE."
I can't help but think my association with PhillyFuture didn't have a small hand in this award. Read more...

HammRadio.com -- The Phillies host the Atlanta Braves for a 4 game set, then take on the Diamondbacks. With my Sunday season ticket plan and my 17 game during the week plan, I'm scheduled to go to 3 games this week. But wait there's more... I'm also going Wednesday night for Ryan Howard Bobblehead doll night! Glutton for punishment? Perhaps. And perhaps for longer, as Pat Gillick prepares for a fire sale. The streaking Braves could make Gillick's decision MUCH easier.
In Eagles-land, the Birds begin
Training camp. So in honor of the 2006 season, I perused the WORLD of YouTube and found the greatest Eagles videos on YouTube. If you want to see 4th and 26, it's there. How about both Miracles at the Meadowlands. They are there. How about Randall on Monday Night Football getting hit by Carl Banks? [How about Frank Gifford calling him a "Quarterblack" by accident just before the play???] Great hits by Brian Dawkins... Freddie Mitchell makes a couple of appearances... And you can determine for yourself whether or not Birds fans should be jeered for cheering Michael Irvin's injury??
If you find other great Eagles clips on YouTube, e-mail me the links!

HammRadio.com -- Earlier today, I received an e-mail from Comcast Sports Net:
Mike Cunningham, tune in today as Allen Iverson addresses the media for the first time regarding his future with the Sixers. Comcast SportsNet will carry his press conference live at 4 p.m. today.
I'm glad they decided to make it personal.
But then I go to KYW NewsRadio and they tell me:
The team says pitcher Brett Myers is rejoining the rotation following his arrest on wife-abuse charges several weeks ago. A press conference with Myers is scheduled for 4pm -- hear it live on KYW.
Despite the lack of personal attention, I have to say the Brett Myers press conference, trumps Allen Iverson right? Although, we all know how great Allen Iverson press conferences are.
But if you are going to play Top Trumps [What is Top Trumps?] as far as Press Conferences, the Myers conference is the one you have to watch... BUT... if we're talking about the GAME... and NOT Practice... I think we all know that the Answer trumps them all. Watch this video of AI's top 10 plays. The one from his rookie year? where he takes Michael Jordan out of his jock is absolutely phenomenal. Watch this video and ask yourself whether you still want AI here.
Brett Myers sole appearance on You Tube, features the always polite Red Sox fans booing him and chanting "Beatah, Beatah"... which sounded offly a lot like "Jetah... Jetah".
So who Trumps who??? Press Conference: Brett Myers. On the Field/Court: Allen Iverson

The Flyers are out of the playoffs. Mini-camp is next week. So how should you spend your weekend? By Booing Barry Bonds. It is your duty as Phillies fans to do so. According to the 700 Level, Bonds should play the entire weekend. Although, Bonds took today off.
Over on HammRadio.com, I give some ideas When you should boo and when you shouldn't. Also, I have a couple of ideas for chants. To be honest, the folks in Milwaukee, didn't do a very good job!

Well the end of David Lee Roth show on 94.1 Free FM is near. And I suppose that means the end of the David Lee Roth Reports my buddy Kyle would send in to my podcast will soon follow. It is not surprising that Roth is being replaced. It was a mistake from the start. While Roth was always a spirited and opinionated guest on Howard Stern. He was also annoying in large doses and he could possibly be insane.
But he seemed to be coming into his own. Unfortunately, the program was more suited for AM talk radio or perhaps an Afternoon gig at first. It was completely unfair for CBS Radio to put Roth in that time slot in Stern Strongleholds.
But now it seems as if CBS Radio, has decided to take an EVEN stranger replacement. XM Radio's Opie and Anthony. YES, O&A who were last heard here in Philadelphia on 94.1 in the afternoons before being fired by Infinity for their Sex for Sam contest.

In 1976, Jodi Letizia hit the big screen in the first Rocky as the young girl that Rocky Balboa takes under his wings and teaches her that "Nobody Likes Garbage" and that you could earn a reputation as a "Whore". It's actually a sweet scene. Untile Marie, flips off Rocky before entering her house.
Well, the character is all grows'd up and will be the love interest for the widowed former chump turned champ. Well, it seems this has caused a problem, as Ms. Letizia claims Sylvester Stallone offered her the job at a book signing. And NOW she's suing Sly and company.
Well, If you took a look at the pictures of the actress who played Marie at 12... and the Actress they've selected to pick... Well.. I think the answer is pretty clear don't you???

Well, I frequently battle whether I'm a blogger or podcaster or something more than that. I will often call my podcasts Radio Shows. As far as blogging, I spend more time developing my "home grown" software than actual blogging lately. I can't tell you how many articles I have sitting in "preview".
Is it finding the time? No, it's not the time. It's trying to balance being funny and informative and opinionated. When blogging, its not as easy as it is when doing the Podcast to break from a rant to be funny or to break from being funny to giving an opinion on a serious matter. Alas, perhaps that's what makes it all great!!!
So help me celebrate this journey! My 100th episode is on it's way, and I'd love to have feedback from the blogging community on what you think about the show? And what you'd like to hear! (OR NOT HEAR!)
And of course, I welcome any well-wishes or bad-wishes if you have them! E-mail us at ProofOfConcept (at) hammradio.com. Or give us a call on the hotline: 267-828-0112. Leave a message after the second beep!

The going rate seems to be about seven years.
I'm sure you were expecting to read about some torture in Iraq or Gitmo. But no, this torture happened here on our shores. This torture wasn't committed by a terrorist or a government official. Just a woman who was entrusted with the care of 4 boys she adopted. Adding to her household which included her own children and a foster daughter.
However, these boys, all natural brothers, weren't treated the same as the others. They were given a diet of soda and uncooked pancake batter. Perhaps that might be a 9 year old's choice for himself. But if you were a parent, you would NEVER allow that to happen. But in this household it was the norm.
As I child, I never wanted for much. Sure there were occasions were it took my working parents until 8pm to figure out "What to do about dinner" as if it was an afterthought. But I never went to bed hungry. Never was I deprived food because I was bad or insolent. Food sustains. And to deprive a child of sustenance, truly amounts to torture.
Read the transcript of the 911 call that saved Bruce Jackson's life. You read how a complete stranger reveal incredible emotions for another human being. This man didn't know this boy. Thought he might have been a dog. And was going to bring the kid food. Something his "mother" was never going to do.
I'm reminded of a story from about 9 years ago. A mother, Charlene Wise, and I use that term in the loosest possible manner, left her child, Charnae, in the basement and would leave food at the top of the steps. Except the child was too weak to climb the steps. It seems the Monster was punishing the girl because she just didn't like her. She would punish her other children for bringing food to the little girl. And eventually, when found, her remains were picked at and chewed up by rats, her head separated from her body. Charlene was convicted of 3rd degree murder and sentenced to 28 to 56 years.
Her minimum sentence is 4 times worse than Vanessa Jackson. She starved 4 boys. If you look at the picture of Bruce Jackson, now 21, his face seems to be frozen in a permanent scowl. Does that seem right? Does that seem equitable? The torture was virtually the same. And perhaps Wise's story made a jury sympathetic. What's Ms. Jackson's story? She was married. She had other healthy children. Crack didn't destroy HER life. And she gets 7 years???
I'm sorry... that's just unacceptable. An entire nation will rally around the torture committed by our soldiers in Iraq. But who marches for Charnae? Who Protests for Bruce?
What's the real price of torture?
Silence.
The cost?
Death.

Rick Tocchet has been implicated in a South Jersey gambling ring that involves a State Trooper. The alleged activities include funnelling bets to the trooper who may have taken bets while on duty.
Tocky Hockey... Unbelievable... I can't help but think there are thousands of 35 year old women in South Jersey and NE Philly with hair burnt to the crisp from years of Aqua Net and crimping irons, crying over an old orange and black #22.
Say it ain't so, Bruise Brother... Say it ain't so.
This puts complaining about the Super Bowl Ads into perspective doesn't it? Okay, that was just a shameless link to HammRadio.com.

I had a Merry Christmas. I also had a Happy Holiday. I enjoyed the Seasons Greetings. Even my Yule-tide was gay. And I still don't know what that means. And no matter how hard the PC police tried to stamp out Christmas traditions. I still had a great holiday.
Every where I went this week, carols serenaded my shopping excursions and holiday parties. From Jingle Bells to Silent Night. From Ave Maria to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. From White Christmas to the Little Drummer Boy. All songs I heard in places like Wal-Mart and Target and the King of Prussia Mall. All organizations in some way or the other have been ripping the true meaning of Christmas right out. But still, I had a great holiday.
Those heathens who shout Merry Xmas couldn't prevent me from spending time with my family sharing gifts and eating with friends. I may not have drank the Egg Nog (unspiked) that my Aunt offered on Christmas night, but that doesn't mean I didn't have a fantastic holiday. No, the Anti-Christmas Coalition couldn't stop me from enjoying the true meaning of Christmas.

So there are just a couple of shopping days left until Christmas, Hanukkah, or the Great American Retail Shopping Holiday which the Heathens call Xmas. Here are our suggestion for a fine Philadelphia Shopping Experience. Of course, you could always buy HammRadio.com merchandise while you are listening to the latest Proof of Concept Podcast. But you already knew that right?

It is pure coincidence that the episode number of this episode reflects the channel number, Howard Stern originally had wanted for his Sirius Radio Station. Of course that is now Channel 100 (Howard News and Wack Pack programming) and Channel 101 which will feature the daily program.
Today's episode of the Proof of Concept is a tribute to Howard Stern through my eyes as an aspiring broadcaster. And in fact I predict I will be replacing David Lee Roth by April or March. Give or take...

On one of my web-sites, I spend a lot of time criticizing folks, giving a weekly award for comments that remind me of someone's backside. But sometimes, folks might think they are backsides, when they really are not. That's why we someone has to defend them. Introducing "The Apologist". Our first installment, Defending Terrell Owens.
Terrell Owens apologized to his teammates and the organization after he criticized the team for not recognizing his achievement of scoring 100 Touchdowns. In TO's original comments, he said the following:
My publicist talked to the head PR guy, and they made an excuse they didn't recognize that was coming up. But that was a blatant lie. Had it been somebody else, they probably would have popped fireworks around the stadium.
What is TO apologizing for? Is it calling the PR person a liar? The PR person didn't say the new "official word" that the Eagles have a policy not to recognize individual acheivement. Interesting, than why would the PR person that spoke to Owens' publicist say they were unaware that a milestone was coming up. 100 Touchdowns is like 500 Home Runs. Jerry Rice has 197 touchdowns. But the first Receiver to get to 100 (perhaps when the mark was more like reaching 700 homers) was Steve Largent, and Seattle stopped the game when he caught that pass. I know it is the Seahawks, but it was an achievement that was Ruthian.

David Lee Roth was chosen to be the replacement for Howard Stern here in Philadelphia. But I really feel like the people of Philadelphia weren't given a choice. That's why, Philly, I have decided to give you the choice. Me!
On Today's Proof of Concept Podcast from HammRadio.com, I decided to set aside some time to lobby to become the next replacement for Howard Stern. If my 54 podcasts weren't enough proof, and certainly, the countless hours spent on WEXP at La Salle University in the early 90s, than certainly actually interviewing
myself on what my show would be like if I were given the job on 94.1 Free FM. Yes, I repeat, I interview myself. I spend most of the time exhorting the benefits of pumping in fake laughter into my bits. Because, "it's not the jokes that will make you laugh, it's the laughter that will make you laugh."
Now if that is not enough to convince you, how about David Lee Roth (Stern's replacement on Philadelphia's WYSP), Sammy Haggar, and Gary Cherone all calling into the HammRadio.com hotline (267-828-0112)? How about when I call the 93.3 WMMR Morning Show, Preston and Elliot (not Preston and Steve like their Billboards say)??? What about the sly wit of playing The Outfield's "Since You've Been Gone" followed by Kelly Clarkson's
"Since U Been Gone"? That doesn't convince you??? Well maybe you should just listen to the show then:
