The new Daily News

The Daily News did some reorganization, and here's the deal: the Yo! section is all pop culture, food and gossip, while the news department got some former features people.

Some shameless self-promotion: Philadelphia Will Do

We've been live at the re-done Philadelphia Will Do for about three weeks now, and I figured I'd pass on the URL to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. Yes, I ran this blog for a little over a year (in various forms) on my own time and now it's published by Philadelphia Weekly, which gives me nice things like a salary and a water fountain close to my cubicle. The format/outlook is a little different than my previous efforts, but I think if you dug the old site you'll enjoy this incarnation as well.

Blah blah blah feedback welcome blah blah blah post comments blah blah blah blah hope you enjoy!

My blog is dead, long live my blog

Indeed, the rumors are true, I'll be blogging (among other things) for Philadelphia Weekly sometime soon. (I'm at my old job until the end of July, then we have to set things up, etc., etc.) It will be a mix of culture/politics/sports/sex/etc. in Philadelphia, pretty much just a light-hearted take on the funniest city in the world.

It will be sweet to be getting paid to blog. Blogebrity A-List, here I come!

I'll be converting Philadelphia Will Do into an archive site sometime soon-ish. I'll let youse know when this thing gets going.

There were goats at Live 8. I have proof.

No, really. The goat handlers had on t-shirts that said "heifer" or somesuch on them, but I didn't really ask. (Yes, I failed as a journalist, but goat-related questions aren't exactly my forte.) I spent most of my time out on the Parkway -- I was at the press tent early in the day, but after I found out it was behind the Art Museum, I just decided I'd rather be out where the action was. I'm sure there will be another opportunity to interview Kami the HIV-positive Muppet.

I will write up my thoughts on my site later, but for now you can check out my site for the photos that came out. I took a lot more, but most of them didn't quite work out. I'm not quite sure what happened. Ahh, well, my goat picture was clear.

Live 8 camera phone photos

I don't have one of those fancy laptop thingies, but I do have a camera phone, and I'll be uploading some photos during the day if I managed to figure out how to do this.

You can see them here. If there's nothing there, it means I failed.

Track your representatives in Congress

Youse are more into this whole "politics" thing than I am, so if I found this interesting, I'm sure people here will find it useful.

Plogress lets you track your representatives in Congress.

Here's some relevant area people:
Senators
Rick Santorum
Arlen Specter

Representatives
Robert A. Brady (District 1)
Chaka Fattah (District 2)
Michael G. Fitzpatrick (District 8)
Allyson Y. Schwartz (District 13)

I'm sure I missed some people, so here's the full Pennsylvania list. Enjoy!

Dalí on the Rocky steps

I was over at the Art Museum yesterday and took some photos of the Dalí face on the Art Museum steps. It's a really neat effect, though it's definitely also a bit creepy.

I wrote a little bit about it here, or there's a direct link to my Flickr gallery of it here. This is my favorite of the set.
