Every few months, new websites like Philly Future are cropping up with innovative ways of enabling and engaging people in creating and sharing news content. This phenomenon has sparked both enthusiasm and controversy.

I'm a graduate student in the Kennedy School at Harvard. My masters project seeks to clarify the landscape of emerging collaborative news models. In particular, I wish to get a better understanding of why people use collaborative sites like Philly Future and how they are valued.
