Photoblogger Fortnight: Kathleen Connally 3

kathleenconnally3 Another shot from Kathleen's archives with another lovely look at Durham Township's gorgeous landscape. This time, we're treated to a portrait as well.

While I frame the subject of this shot as an outdoor portrait, you can clearly see what Connally means when she says

I rarely think in terms of an object or a place or person I'm photographing – I think of the light that is reflected from the object, place or person. I want to use the light that's naturally available to portray ambience, atmosphere, and environment. When I take a photo, the light is always the subject.

The dark blue sky tones fading into white at the horizon while the field of green grass glows a yellowy color as the setting sun's rays are reflected along the worn patches. Caught mid-jump, the boy's face catches the sun and is in clear focus while his left arm is caught in the shadow of his body. The meandering line of trees in the distance form a dark green mass out of focus and mirroring the mountains behind them. I love it all.
