Live 8 is the moment, One is the movement

I just took part in a terrific Live 8 related conference call organized by David Sifry of Technorati, John Hinderaker of Powerlineblog.com, Joe Trippi and Daren Berringer of JoeTrippi.com.

Special guests were Mike McCurry, a senior adviser to the Kerry campaign and former White House spokesman and Mark McKinnon, Vice Chairman of Public Strategies and advisor to President Bush. Read more about their efforts with the One campaign at Data.org.

I had the opportunity to ask a question of the panel and had thought long and hard about what it should be. Friends, family and confidants offered various advice. I decided to step out of my 'blogger' role and ask a question for average Joe's such as myself - "What is it that you feel the average American - average Philadelphian - can do to help in a concrete way? I ask this especially since our region is bound to be energized after the concert and if avenues are not in place to take that initiative, focus it and harness it - it might dissipate and be lost. At the very least will One.org promote politicians at a local level who support it's aims?"

As a blogger - I knew the answer - speak up and spread the word. Educate and inform. But as someone not so empowered - as someone who could remember not having this capability - as someone who has friends and family who are never apt to blog - I wanted something more definite - something more concrete.

You will have to come back for the answer. They will be posting the audio of the call to JoeTrippi.com and once it is up I will be sure to transcribe it for you.

Until then go to One.org - get informed - and sign the petition.

Also take a look at Technorati's Live 8 site. A fine example of what is possible by bringing blogs together.

sorry i missed it

Arg, I really wanted to be in on the call. I eagerly await the audio.
