Press Pass Problems

Because I don't have a real press pass, I've had a little bit of trouble this last visit to the press tent just north of the PMA next to the Joan d'Arc gilded statue. The lady guarding the entrance on one side gave me a hard time when I waved my left arm at her. She questioned who I was. Where was my badge? Who was I with? I told her that I was an internet blogger selected to cover this event, one of only fifty in the world. She wasn't too impressed. I haggled her some more proving that I had knowledge of the press tent and it's inner workings. She let in and let me through. It's like I was asking for a liver transplant from a total stranger.

Later, I was walking the fence and taking some photos. I took a photo of a couple people and one asked me to take a photo of them. I took their camera and took a pic. A cop on a bike rode by and pushed my in the back. He told me to get back on the other side of the fence. He asked for a badge. I showed him my band. I told him I was here partly on behald of Technorati. The crowd came to my defense screaming that I was legit and that I didn't cross the fence. The cop rode a circle around me and let me go on my way.

We still have a long way to go. I think my NY attitude kicked into high gear to get what was mine. I hope that other bloggers with credentials speak their mind. Do not let in. Make them respect you and they will.

me in the inky

Maybe I should just pull out the article in the inky on me and show them my ID to prove that I'm credentialed. Is that what it takes?
