Live 8 wasn't the only concert going on in Philadelphia this weekend. I just returned from the Sunoco Welcome America concert, which featured Sir Elton John, Patti LaBelle, Rufus Wainwright, and Brian Adams. I'll post a picture set over the next couple of days a la our Live 8 coverage, but just for fun, here's a picture of Elton, who really had the crowd going and finished with Philadelphia Freedom.

a mistake
I made the mistake of not going out to see the fireworks in person this year. I was feeling pretty tired and thought that the TV coverage would be adequate, boy was I wrong. The TV coverage was horrendous. They were shooting at weird angles and too close. I won't make the same mistake next time unless I'm really sick.
