Media Alert: Coverage of Latoyia Figueroa on Radio Times Today

From All Spin Zone:

NPR's Radio Times with Marty Moss-Coane will be covering the story tomorrow near the end of her show. I understand the discussion will revolve around the ethics of what the "media" chooses to cover as a story. But if you listen to Radio Times enough, you know it can veer off topic, usually in a good way. ... (read the post at ASZ)

Radio Times can be caught twice a day, either the full version at 10 a.m. on weekdays, or the condensed version at 11 p.m. (hopefully this discussion makes the condensed cut, too). I find the show to be a revealing look at what's going on in the news (probably why Philadelphia Magazine called it the best radio show in Philly). I look forward to hearing what Spin Dentist notes is bound to be a more in-depth and reasoned look at the story than what we saw on Tucker Carlson a week-and-a-half ago -- and it appears the Spin Dentist will be on-hand to add the blogger angle to the piece.

UPDATE: Steve (aka Spin Dentist) represented the cause well , and it indeed was a much more receptive, in-depth segment than we saw on Tucker Carlson's show. Steve was on for about ten minutes, from 11:40 to 11:50, and added some great perspective to an already competent panel. The hour of today's show that covered the Latoyia will be re-broadcast tonight at 11 on WHYY (90.9 FM) here in Philly for those who missed it. For those who can't make that time slot either, the entire hour (all of which focused on disparate media treatment of missing persons cases) can be heard online here.

As far as I know. . .

The segment will air at 11:40 or so, and last twenty minutes. Live radio is going to be a new experience, though I was on Talk of the Nation for a few minutes last week, so it isn't the first time, quite. Of course, this is radio, so it can always be shoved back to another time or something. Yes, I am filling in for Richard Cranium on the show.

That was a much more informative segment than the last one

It was great to see (okay, hear) a whole hour on the media's treatment of missing person's cases, and I thought you added some really nice perspectives to the conversation -- and the other panelists seemed to agree on the need for a watchdog role in media, which in cases like these, falls into the laps of bloggers.

Thought that went very well also

Marty (almost) always does a great show. Today's was no exception. Thought the discussion was generally very good--and even that concerning blogs.
