Newtown Team Returns PA to Little League Series

BRISTOL, Conn. - Caught up in his coach's arms, Benn Parker couldn't hear the roar. He couldn't see the pandemonium his hit had just set off in the Breen Field stands. He couldn't think, or feel, or ven comprehend the history he'd made with one short swing.

"It was one of those moments when you just watch everything flash before your eyes you can't really tell what's going on," said Parker, Council Rock-Newtown's center fielder and the hero of Monday night's 4-3, come-from-behind win over Toms River American (N.J.) in the Mid-Atlantic Region Little League championship game. ... I remember watching these little guys playing on ESPN for so many years. How far a drive is that from Center City?

making the trip to the Series in Williamsport

I think Frank posted this in response to your question Albert, though it ended up in the wrong thread:

I have watched a number of regional games in person...one of my sons played in one regional one last year...Albert, it's about 130 miles from Center City...and worth a trip just once. Very cool...must be fun to play as PA state champ in Williamsport. WTG, Bucks Co."

I've always wanted to make the trip myself one of these days (never made it as little leaguer myself, so...)
