UPDATE
The base will be closed:
The Base Closure and Realignment Commission voted to close the Willow Grove Naval Air Station today, but in a move that left base supporters confused, it did not deactivate the 111th Fighter Wing of Pennsylvania Air National Guard as the Pentagon wanted.via the Inky
The confusion resulted in part because just before the BRAC vote, a federal judge ruled that the Pentagon erred by not getting Gov. Rendell's approval before deciding to disband the base's Air National Guard unit.

In a case that has the potential to affect National Guard units nationwide, U.S. District Judge John R. Padova said Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld should have gotten consent from Gov. Ed Rendell before moving to dissolve the 111th Fighter Wing of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard.

Bummed
I've lived most of my life only about 10 minutes from the Willow Grove Air Base. I'm saddened to hear that it's closing. I'm attached to the planes and helicopters flying overhead. I notice them every day when I'm swimming in the pool or when outside doing yardwork or playing with my kids. I'll miss the sounds and sights of flight.
