The Blizzard of 2005

Folks share your blog postings and pictures here so that the community is aware of them. Post to your Philly Future blog with pointers back to your site or leave comments in this thread and I will update this post.

--- The latest ---

It's 6:42AM Monday. Off to work. But I wanted to share a couple more pics:

Mithras posted some great pics of Center City.

There are sone awesome pics at dragonballyee.

Pax captured a few from his TV.

Even more pics at Heather's.

And Daniel posted another great set of shots.

--- previously ---

It's 10AM Sunday, my back is killing me, and I am about to head out for another round of shoveling, but I admit it - I love snow too. Just wish it came on a Sunday night. This was fun :)

Zhaba mentions her same preference for the day of the week for a snowfall and she had a dream about the Eagles.

Scott trackbacked in to share his love of the snow - and a bunch of great pics.

And I missed this earlier post by Frank exclaiming how great Philly TV news is during these things - videos of stuck cars, dumb drivers, panicked shopping.

And Dialectic Humanism was able to take a snow day from work. I'm jealous. I wanted this thing to go down Sunday night!

As the snow has slowed down (it is supposed to start again and accumulations are to double!), it appears we have started to drink our way thru this winter fun....

Becky is ready with supplies (including spiked drinking chocolate) and tells the snow to Bring it on!.

Chloe is turning into a fruit juice chemist.

Mr. Poon is "half a bottle of pinot noir drunker".

Drinking sounds like a good idea (I'm in the mood for a hot totty or something like it - hmmmmmmm)....

Erin is posting videos! Cute dog - looks almost exactly like mine! Is that a cockapoo?

Daniel has posted some pics of the storm from Northeast Philly.

And Atrios has only one word to say about the storm.

Heather has posted some more pics. Take a look at her Eagles site skin. Nice work.

Over at Ted and Karol's site are some really peaceful looking pictures.

Pax took the rest of the day easy after dealing with folks freaking out while shopping (I went for groceries early on - and man was it nuts - quick - get that box of Cheerios!).

Fables of reconstruction has a pic of Independence Hall.

Over at Ted & Karol's they note church has been cancelled.

And this needs to be checked out - listen to live Chester County Fire and Rescue services at sediments.

Happy Pills is posting pics and is using Trackback to link to this post - thanks :) And that's a good idea for eveyone else too :)

The Den of Inquity has a pic of her cul-de-sac.

And it's Alex's daugther's 2nd birthday party today.

Suburban Guerrilla: Bigass Snow

Me? We've just finished our trip to the grocery store. Traffic is already at a standstill in my neighborhood and we have only about a half inch so far. Will be fun watching my puppy's reaction to a real snow storm! There is something about watching a dog jump up and down in mounds of snow that just fills my heart.

No Snow Day for the VFD's

Before you go out into the snow by any mode of conveyance other than one foot in front of the other, you may want to hear the number of accidents and other weather-related injuries that volunteer firefighters, fire police, and EMT's are coping with out here in Chester and Lancaster Counties. How you say? I have a live MP3 stream up where you can listen to fire and rescue calls happening now. Stop over, take a listen, and leave a comment on the blog. All you need to listen is WinAmp, RealPlayer, iTunes, or a similar MP3 stream listener.

Wow

How are you doing that? It's fascinating.

Smoke and Mirrors

Actually, it is fairly simple which is the reason why there are over 8000 streaming audio stations on right now via Shoutcast. Add to that people who use Oddsock, Live365, and the dozen or so other methods, and you can see why there is so much of a variety of streaming audio available via the Internet these days. Lots to listen out there!

Here, it is simply a computer-controlled radio jacked into an audio card which send the stream to a Shoutcast server which, in turn. the listener connects to via WinAmp or some other package. When I get the web site totally moved, I actually have a set of DIY pages that anybody can do use to put a stream up in around 30 minutes.
