Speaking of which, there will be plenty of criticism for Donovan McNabb. Plenty of it justified. He had a rough night. But so did our offensive line. Four sacks. What I hate are our fair weather fans - many of which who own number five jerseys no doubt - who will not only blame the loss on him, but claim he sucks and should be gotten rid of. That he choked. These folks need to shut up.
No one choked yesterday. It was a game fought to the end. There's some legitimate criticism to go around, but I hope this team remains intact.
Jonathan Tannenwald saus it better than I can:
What I hope for, above all, is that I won't be the only person who looks back on this season and realizes that it was a truly extraordinary ride. I got to bear witness to something that hasn't happened in my entire lifetime, engulfed by a city that has a passion for its teams and its culture like nothing that Washington has ever seen. I know that people in New York, Boston, and D.C. love to bash Philadelphia for being a city full of dumb, boorish hooligans, but having lived here for two and a half years now I can say that I love this place and that spirit is something that I truly cherish.
I know, I know, this hurts. How many times do we need to see a Philly team, not only knock on the door, but step partially inside and then get it slammed shut? So close. So friggin close. I've been suffering with a stomach virus this entire weekend, but the pain in my heart is probably worst than that in my gut.
Thank you Eagles for a terrific season. I know you'll be back next year.
