Bindlestiff Books Installs Mural

Bindlestiff Books, the new neighborhood bookstore at 4530 Baltimore Avenue, has installed a mural on the outside wall of their building. The mural combines images of books with neighborhood houses. Mural artist, Jonny Buss, conceived the design as a reflection of homes in Philadelphia. Members of the Bindlestiff staff and local artists, Cristina D'Ambrosio and Kae Kalwaic helped with the project. Buss, who has assisted on variety of Philadelphia murals, just recently completed a mosaic project at Cedar Park–a circular mosaic featuring five cedar trees.

Bindlestiff Books opened its doors this past November. One of the objectives of Bindlestiff Books is to have an inexpensive, high-quality neighborhood bookstore. "We've put a great deal of energy into improving the facade and creating artistic displays in the window, said Walt Weber, one of the store's founders. "We hope that Bindlestiff Books will offer a bright and cheerful place to shop on Baltimore Avenue."
