A graduate student from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government has been conducting an intriguing survey about citizen media, including sites like Philly Future. In her own words:
Every few months, new websites like Philly Future are cropping up with innovative ways of enabling and engaging people in creating and sharing news content. This phenomenon has sparked both enthusiasm and controversy.
... My masters project seeks to clarify the landscape of emerging collaborative news models. In particular, I wish to get a better understanding of why people use collaborative sites like Philly Future and how they are valued. You can help by participating in this short, 5-minute online survey.

Good set of questions
I took the survey...I hope that the student gets lots of responses from PF readers....it will make a difference.
I took it

yeah - I just took it too -
yeah - I just took it too - as an ex-phone-surveyor, I usually do what I can for stuff like this (for actual people I mean - not the gimmick pop-up type ad things)
Hsing appreciates it
Hopefully, we'll get a lot of participation.
It would be great to help her in this project, and at the same time learn a little more about how Philly Future can be useful to its community.
For the sake of research
Simple enough. Please participate!
Let's see the results
I was glad to take the survey. I added a comment asking the researcher to please close the feedback loop and post a summary (or link to the full thesis) results when she is done. This is a conversation and the survey is part of that.
Part of the plan
I believe she's planning on releasing the relevant results upon completion (which probably won't be for several more weeks).
