Well the end of David Lee Roth show on 94.1 Free FM is near. And I suppose that means the end of the David Lee Roth Reports my buddy Kyle would send in to my podcast will soon follow. It is not surprising that Roth is being replaced. It was a mistake from the start. While Roth was always a spirited and opinionated guest on Howard Stern. He was also annoying in large doses and he could possibly be insane.
But he seemed to be coming into his own. Unfortunately, the program was more suited for AM talk radio or perhaps an Afternoon gig at first. It was completely unfair for CBS Radio to put Roth in that time slot in Stern Strongleholds.
But now it seems as if CBS Radio, has decided to take an EVEN stranger replacement. XM Radio's Opie and Anthony. YES, O&A who were last heard here in Philadelphia on 94.1 in the afternoons before being fired by Infinity for their Sex for Sam contest.
The deal is not yet finalized, but it seems O&A will stay on XM Radio?!? How it will work I have no idea. But it is fascinating that the CBS Radio is now in bed with the competition.
And for all of you who have been wondering, why we have taken a brief hiatus from our Proof of Concept podcasts, it was NOT because we were in negotiations with CBS Radio. We decided that replacing Roth instead of Stern would be like Letterman replacing Leno instead of Carson on the Tonight Show. And it didn't sit with us. The rumors just aren't true.
Okay, okay... I was one the who started the rumors.

For pulling a stunt that can only be described as way over the line:
Encouraging and broadcasting a live eyewitness account of a couple having sex in St. Patrick's Cathedral.
Infinity knew just what they had in them in their original employment
They know what they'll be getting when they come back.
Even Stern thought they had it coming.

O&A are funny as hell - they make me laugh my ass off - but they are NOT fit for day time *broadcast* radio.

uhuh. back to broadcast radio. as over the top as ever. pale stern imatators. They are better than Roth - at least they're funny - but I really don't think suitable for when kids are walking to school. not at all.

All you Stern worshippers out there need to get in your time machine and go back to when he was funny ! I used to love Stern, but his show hasn't changed except for the fact that he spends most of the time on his soap box praising himself. He's a pioneer, but now it's time to let the new blood take over and stop living in a time when Stern was funny !
