Ohh, Ohh, Ohh ....Ladies, I kid you not, but Q102 has hired a DJ that looks as good as he sounds....ok guys don't go all postal, but a girl likes a little eye candy now and then - he used to be on Entertainment Tonight and MTV once in a while....all my gal pals in NYC dig him....oh, and he is a decent DJ.

After a nearly four-month search, WIOQ (102.1) hired a morning personality today. He's Chris Booker, most recently the night guy at WFNY-FM in New York. He'll start May 8.
Booker, in his early 30s and raised in West Virginia, dated Lynda Lopez - J.Lo's younger sister - for two years before they broke up last year.
Booker hosted Survivor Live with the original Survivor, Richard Hatch. He's also a part-time correspondent for TV Guide Channel and host of Sushi TV. He formerly was on the MTV series 120 Minutes and The Return of the Rock, and has contributed to Entertainment Tonight.
He also was a regular on the old Howard Stern radio show under the name Booger (full text)

I don't know about DJ/Radio markets
...but know my friends in NYC love him as a DJ, and I had seen him in the past on entertainment tonight, and other than too much hair gel on occasion, he is not nearly as annoying as that little billy bush for entertainment news...and he's FUNNY....besides philly could use some new blood in the dj area of things, don't you think?

It might be fun to see if this guy Booker would do an interview on PhillyFuture about why he chose the Philly market, considering his resume...unless he's getting out of NYC to get away from his ex, which is J Lo's sister (or so say NY media reports like page 6 on occasion)

Booker Show was an afternoon show during the rock days of k-rock in ny. He was shafted out of his time slot by wfny and wound up doing nights when they switched formats. read the wikipedia, his show (booker, danni, brad, nick, jill) WAS one of the most entertaining shows ever on ny radio.

As a long-time listener of Booker in NYC, you guys will be really lucky to have an intelligent DJ like Booker doing a show in the mornings. We have grown to love his show in NYC and around it, and I have no doubt he will grow on you guys in no time. Thankfully he will be streamable on Q102 so us diehards can still pull him up from time to time.
Down Market, Up Time Slot
Philly fans --- you're going to enjoy Booker. As posted earlier, he did afternoon drive when 92.3 was still K-Rock in NY, and did a great show. When the station went all talk, he got shafted into the 7-11 PM slot, which he hated, and still managed to put on a show that was better than watching TV. Booker may have moved down markets (no offense intended), but he got a better time slot, something he craved and could not get on WFNY in NY.
Again...enjoy, as I can assure you many NY-ers are going to be streaming his show daily.

You can try calling new Q102 morning man Chris Booker this week, but you'll likely get voice mail. Fresh from signing his deal with WIOQ-FM (102.1), he and his girlfriend, Caron, a New York club promoter, hopped on a plane to Anguilla. He'll start one day next week after he shakes the sand out of his flip-flops, working with Q102 morning sidekicks Lisa Paige and Diego.
Before flying out last weekend, Booker said he wanted to do a show "that's going to talk to people and not at people." He'll mix music and talk.
Booker, 34, raised in West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania, is quite the man about town in New York, where he had a night show. He dated J.Lo's younger sister, Lynda Lopez; cohosted Survivor Live; was a regular named Booger on the old Howard Stern show; hosts on TV Guide; and turns up on VH1.

his show was below average and boring. he had two slutty, dirty girls that carried the show and made it interesting or it would have been cancelled sooner. his talk is about the past and he lives off of being a name dropper. he did not belong in a big city market and got pushed out, first to nights and then out of town. his dirty girls are missed, but they stayed in NYC and are still on the air.

How ungrateful are you Philadelphians? Don't you have any clue as to what makes up good radio programming? Just because he didn't fix your broke ass station in two days doesn't mean he's not the best at what he does. I can't even read some of these comments. Not sure if your misinformed or just uninformed, but ask anyone with a radio how great he has been to NYC radio for the last two years and you might begin to understand how much he is missed back home.

...but sometimes philly is slow to accept change...and BTW, most of the negative Booker comments have come from New Yorkers, so perhaps you had best have a chat with your pals up there.
And you are correct, Booker can't fix everything with Q102...they have to do things like fix the play lists which totally suck, as well.

I really miss Chris Booker on the rdio in New York. He was really funny and it was just a good way to pass the time in the car in the afternoon or at night. I miss his crazy show very much. So enjoy until New York gets him back.

I used to listen to CHIO ( is that how you spell it?) ALL the time. Untill i heard Booker. At first i thought he sucked. But... Now all i listen to is Q102. I couldnt tell you the last time i tuned into 96.5 in the morning. It just happened. I LOVE BOOKER! he is soo funny and a smart ass! i like that :)

Dont get me wrong I listen to ALOT of different radio personalities in the morning and will scan when one gets less interesting then another but booker is the absolute worst radio host ive ever heard. I think Booker is one of the better Philadelphia DJs that are out there. He isn't pbnoxious like some of the previous DJs. I remember the days of Eagle 106 back in the late 80s. Does anyone remember that?
