The rain will make each and every vote that much more important today.
Following are some links, resources, and commentary across our online community, but first, allow me to say this:
I hope you will join me in thinking that no matter your political persuasion, the efforts of Albert Yee and Chris Bowers are inspiring.
So few speak out about what's important in this day and age, an age that that encourages cynicism and silence, uses fear to motivate, keeping us in our consumer lulled sleep.
Fewer join a team or organization to try and take an active swing at making things better.
And fewer still get directly involved in an effort represent us, in the arena of our political leadership.
Albert and Chris are.
Along with them are what Chris says are 200 to 300 others who have decided to run for Committee person this year, especially thanks to the educational efforts of The Committee of Seventy.
Along with them are the campaigns of Alan Sandals and Chuck Pennacchio, campaigns that buck the party's organization's (note not the party's) "designated" choice.
It's democracy in action. No matter your choice, make it count. Get out and vote.

The following is a message from Albert Yee who is running for Committee person, is a volunteer for Chuck Pennacchio and is a volunteer here at Philly Future:
I want to remind you about tomorrow's Democratic primary election. The polls will be open from approximately 7a to 8p. Find your polling place here. There are a lot of good people to vote for, but I'll select two who are in statewide big time races. Valerie McDonald Roberts for Lt. Governor and Chuck Pennacchio for US Senate. I interviewed Valerie last week, you can read about here and there's a link to her campaign website from that post. There's a link to Chuck's website on the right side of this blog and I've been writing about him every week for the past many months. If you've missed it, type in "Pennacchio" into the search block underneath the photo of him at top.
It's going to rain tomorrow, so turnout will be lower than a normal low turnout primary. Every vote will carry that much more weight in these state wide races. Your vote will be even more important. I urge you all to vote for these two wonderful people I've gotten to know over the last few weeks and months. I've been volunteering on Chuck's campaign for a year now and I can't tell you how inspiring it is to be around a candidate like him. In the run up to the general election against Sen. Man on dog, I hope that many of you will volunteer a few hours of your time, we'll need it.
Email your friends. Tell them to vote. Tell them to tell their friends and them to tell their friends. Voting on election day is a way to do the absolute minimum in participating in our democracy twice a year. Participate and democracy wins.

VOTE for MIKE LEIBOWITZ IN THE 6TH - VOTE for CHUCK PENNACHIO !
Ok, I did some private homework, and have come to the conclusion that Mike Leibowitz isn't a bad choice for the 6th Congressional district. If he was MY district, I would VOTE for him. But I can't. However, I STRONGLY encourage those IN the 6th District to at least send Lois a STRONG message that she can't be a political machine puppet, with every move and bon mot charted by that former Ballet dancer! Politics as usual from EITHER party should not be tolerated. The US deserves better.
I am, however, voting for Chuck Pennachio today, and wish I could vote for Albert because that is the case of another person I WOULD vote for if I COULD vote for them.
Just my gut again, but I LIKE this guy!
Go Get'em Chuck!
Let 2006 be the year of the more independent candidates.

....it is all about the principle of the matter....honey, save your snarkisms for someone who deserves it, and I adore you far too much to tolerate the ribbing.
the folks I latched onto would have made a HUGE difference for the better in PA and nationally, and the fact that they had the courage to run, and saw it through, still speaks volumes.
we need more independent thinkers as opposed to party puppets.
I did win in the derby though...I picked Barbaro
