The Daily News's Will Bunch shares the news at Attytood:
It's Philly's PR exec Brian Tierney and his local group of investors, which includes Bruce Toll, the co-founder of the Toll Bros. homebuilding empire. It's not official, but I can tell that it's pretty much a done deal. Regular readers of Attytood know that since last fall, I have been crusading to save the Daily News, and so now I can tell you this:We're saved.
Tierney has pledged both publicly and privately to keep the paper going, and there is no reason not to keep him at his word. Unlike the other bidders, including even Ron Burkle of the union-backed Yucaipa Cos., Tierney -- who gets the Daily News home-delivered -- understands the People Paper's unique bond with its readers.
