Regal Cinemas is introducing new technology to allows patrons to alert management of problems in their movie auditoriums.
The technology, called the Regal Guest Response System, provides select moviegoers with a pager-like device with four buttons. Pressing the buttons will alert management to problems with the picture or sound of the movie, a disturbance by other patrons, or in-progress piracy.
This new program will allow movie watchers to complain without leaving their seats, which they expect will improve the experience for both the pager carriers and regular viewers.
The pilot program rolls out in two theaters in our area: The Regal Brandywine Town Center 16 in Wilmington, and the Regal Downingtown Stadium 16. After Regal managment evaluates the program, they expect to expand its use nationwide.

What a great idea
A lot of folks have no doubt been waiting for a system like this. I hope it works and gets rolled out to other location relatively quickly.
sure
Something tells me that the picture and audio problem buttons will connect to a phone in an empty office, while the piracy button will be wired directly to the local swat team.
I hadn't thought of it that
I hadn't thought of it that way, but it makes sense. Color me optimistic; if they're going to invest in the technology, then hopefully they'll at least be somewhat responsive.
