The Philly Comedy Scene is Getting Brighter

Comic Energy after successfully filming they’re pilot for television looks forward to their seventh season opener (“Back To School Special”) September 21st through October 1st at the Shubin Theatre located at 4th and Bainbridge Streets, one block away from South Street.

The show will feature the troupe’s ever popular ‘frat’ series that debuted in September 2004 to a sold out crowd in South Philadelphia. Not only will Comic Energy performed “A Night To Remember” (a 5-sketch piece that stretches throughout the performance) the troupe will also feature brand new sketch material written by veteran sketch comedy writers James Daly and Walter Threadgill.

The troupe is also excited about a pilot recently shot and currently in the post-production room. It is Comic Energy’s target and main objective to represent Philly and the comedic attitude that the city has been buzzing for the last few years.

In order to inject new energy into the project the comedy troupe from South Philadelphia brought in new blood.

“We have made some additions to the cast over the summer that have not only given us the flexibility to accomplish new challenges they have added an entirely new dimension”, says director James Daly.

Comic Energy fans should expect a show that not only has the comedic vibe that C.E. is most popular for, the show will also feature some new elements that the troupe plans on incorporating throughout the season.

The cast includes Comic Energy mainstays Walter Threadgill, Mike Ford, Nick Deluca, and James Daly who all have been with the cast throughout season six.

Summer additions include the talents of Jennifer Grow, Deanna LaCava, Patrick Reber, and Katie Boyer.
