Campout for Hunger

I've mentioned time and again here on my blog just how much I LOVE Preston & Steve from WMMR. They absolutely (without a doubt!) are the best thing that has ever happened to morning radio. While others are content to listen to all of those "cheap imitations" out there, P&S have been my saviours, as well as THOUSANDS of others every morning for quite a number of years. The humor they bring to listeners is second to none. BTW, to the rest of the morning crew, Nick, Casey, Kathy and Marisa, I love you guys too!

For several years now (since the Y100 days), Preston & Steve have helped the community in more ways than I can count. One of the most noble charity events that they host is the "Campout for Hunger", which benefits Philabundance, a food bank in Philadelphia that helps to feed the hungry here in the Delaware Valley.

P&S campout for a week in the parking lot of an RV at the Metroplex Shopping Center in Plymouth Meeting, PA (Montgomery County) and do their radio broadcasts from there. This year it will be Monday, December 4th thru Friday, December 8th. I will sticky this post about a week before to remind everyone about the event.

I've gone out there a few years in a row and brought food to help those in need here in my community and I plan on doing it again. There is a big shortage here for those that really need help, so I want to do all that I can.

For all of you locals that read here, PLEASE make the trip up to Montgomery County to meet Preston, Steve and the rest of the gang from the morning show and bring a can or two of food to help feed those who are in dire need.

If you're in the area "just because" and don't have anything to donate, there is a grocery store in the complex that sells bags of food specifically for this event. Buy a bag, donate and register to win some excellent prizes from WMMR, and also stop in the tent and say hi to Preston, Steve, Nick, Casey and Kathy. You'll fall in love with all of them. I can't begin to tell you how down to earth they all are and how much they really care out those in our community.

If you can't make it out to the Metroplex, there are 14 Hollywood Video stores in the area that are collecting on behalf of the Campout for Hunger. I spoke with Pierre Robert, WMMR's radio personality from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. asking for the 14 locations accepting the donations, and he told me I should call Nick McIlwain, producer, webmaster and hottie of the morning show. I left a voice message for Nick asking him to get back to me with the information. But because I'm impatient, I contacted Rajani Pattinson of Hollywood Video, who so graciously emailed me a listing of all the area stores collecting:

Hello,

Here is a list of the Hollywood Video locations that are collecting for the Camp Out.

Thank you so much,

Karl, Thanks for the link

Karl,

Thanks for the link hookup. I just did a copy and paste from my blog and put it here. I spent well over an hour+ getting all the information. I do have all the linkage over at my site.

Thanks again.
