Fox News 29 has recently relaunched its website with a new name, "MyFox Philadelphia", a cleaner design, easier navigation, and notable new section on the site that enables you to launch a blog.
Yep. You heard that right. Fox News has gotten into the blog hosting business.
Click the Community tab off the home page and you are presented with an aggregator that pulls in the latest posts and photos in the four categories that participants at MyFox Philly are permitted to post to. Creating a blog there enables you to share a small profile of yourself, publish stories and photos, and syndicate a feed. Bethany Warner's is "collinsmommy2226" blog is a great example.
News anchors are taking part by blogging as well. Take a look at what Bill Vargus is doing.
Having Fox staffers and service participants use the same tools will help coalesce the online community there.
Hosting your blog on Fox News means giving up a lot of the functionality you'd take for granted at Blogger or TypePad. For example, you can't change the design of your blog. If you are a do it yourselfer, well it just won't compare in terms of what tools it can provide you.
It's much more in spirit of what you'd find at Young Philly Politics and Philly Future. A slimmer set of functionality, but the opportunity to participate in a larger community.
I'd like to see participation bubble up to MyFoxPhilly's home page and news sections. Philly.com had a similar service over five years ago and never got around to taking that crucial step, to integrate and highlight what folks were sharing in their community toolset across the site. It didn't take off since there was no real relationship between Philly.com's staff and what participants were posting. MyFoxPhilly goes part way in having staffers take part (that's a huge step in and of itself). But when I go to the Sports section of the site, I'd want to see what some of their participants are saying - right then and there.
There will be plenty of folks out here that will say that Fox just doesn't 'get it' and that anyone that would participate in such an effort is wasting their time when they have options that are free and just as easy to use elsewhere.
My bet is, if they continue on past a few months, local businesses, personalities and pundits, may consider a blog there prime online real estate.
We'll see.

Your shameless plug for youre printable "newspaper" while covering the Daily News and Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper strike just goes to prove how FOX should stick to television for news repoting. To even compare your pathetic news coverage to the likes of the respectable Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily news is as laughable as your tv news coverage. This great city needs talented, respectable and intelligent news coverage which FOX news comes nowhere close to. Your TV news is enough of a pathetic attempt at journalism it is absurd to even purport to have the journalist integrity of finer newspaper writing like the Inquirer or the Daily News.

I switched to fox news from the Today show about six months ago. The Today show was getting boring. I found Fox and Friends livilier. Afterall the news is all the same no matter who gives it to you,it may be slanted differently but I am able to separate ideology from news. My comment is this: I am finding the Fox reporters rather mean spirted and at times unpleasant to watch with their eye rolling and snide comments . It's too early in the morning for such antics. I find I am switching channels again looking for something more meaningful. Please give me a break and get those guys to grow up!
Septa Snow Wokers
I would like to know why the workers that do snow plowing & salting do not any T.V covreg like Pendot? My father has been doing snow work for Septa since I was a small child and I will be 33 years old in March. He to this day still does snow and ice work and there are many times when he can not come home when it is to bad, they must sleep at work, he will be doing this for the next five years when he will be 56 years old.Septa and Pendot split the city up and there 20 at Seta that do the same work as my dad!

I wanted to point out a concern with sign at Gino's pizza. I understand wanting people to speak english, but I was wondering is this for all languages other then english, or do you allow someone to order in italian, because if you do then thats being hipacrite.

Goddday, Since Pat Croce Don Tolerson Was hosting. even before that, I'm writing to say I love all of the cast at fox Especially, the women It's a shame all the women are married. But I've noticed the Dorthy has been wearing her wedding band. I'm not saying it to be negative, I hope she's okay, Because I'm her number fan!!!! Keep up the good work...
