There's a tendency here in our blogosphere (across the political spectrum) to either obsess on national affairs, speaking in generalities about people we don't know, on subjects we are not experts on, all framed through a prescriptive lens framed by ideology.
Last nights State of the Union, Iraq war, Iran, and 9/11 aside, was largely focused on domestic issues, issues that most likely all affect us in an intimate and frequent way.
Rather than discuss the President's speech in vague terms, like "the economy", "big oil", or "those people", do you have any stories, any real life examples of how the President's suggestions can hurt or help you? What's your local perspective on HIV/AIDS efforts, increased ethanol production, No Child Left Behind (NCLB), the proposed healthcare tax and healthcare deductions, HSAs (Health Savings Accounts), and anything else I may have missed?
If you missed it, a transcript and video can be found here at the offical White House SOTU page. If you've are or already have written on the SOTU from a local perspective, link to it in the comments, or tag your post with "SOTUlocal".

It doesn't really revolve around the SOTU because I haven't fully digested it nor done too much of my own research but after reading the post on Blinq, I wanted to share my own experience.
For better or for worse, enjoy.
I finally drummed up enough words to post
Here's what struck me about the speech
