Has everyone noticed it is as if Jamie Cockayne's murder never happened? Seriously there was a spurt of interest, then nothing. What are our erstwhile elected officials doing? Mainstream media? Virgin Islands Government?
The last we heard was when the SAC site found itself quoted in a Virgin Island newspaper. Of course there is irony there as that was a newspaper that doesn't quite seem to understand citizen journalism, now does it?
Jamie wasn't a blond baby like Natalee Holloway, not that THAT should matter. Also let's stop the endless stream of racial comments from eitther side of the aisle. Take color out of it and actually try to deal with the issue at hand: crime in the USVI.
The point is this: that kid was brutally murdered. What is up with the suspects? And most importantly, why doesn't the U.S. Government deal with the wanton corruption and lawlessness in this US territory? Why not step in and make the Virgin Islands safe for tourists and residents? Why continue to cover up the problems?
How can tourist and residents of the U.S. Virgin Islands be safe until there is a real investigation into not only how this murder case has been handled, but others as well?
Go ahead, google crime in the virgin islands. Go ahead. There is a lot of it, and most of it seems to get swept under the rug, doesn't it? We're sure this post will win us no friends in the Virgin Islands, especially the tourism office, but hey, the truth hurts. The Virgin Islands government needs to acknowledge the part they play in these problems. But so does the U.S. Government and Justice System for that matter. This is our opinion guranteed to us via the First Amendment, so don't taser us ok?
Murder of WIlliam Fussell
William Thomas Fussell critical care unit nurse was under in the streets of St. Croix Saturday evening in Lagrande Princess on the island of St. Croix. He was driving to his mothers home where is was staying and was followed by 3 young black men. They watched him enter the house and then they entered through the front door and william reacted by pushing them out the door, he was then over powered by the men, he managed to get free and ran down the street. The men followed him. Billy ran into a new house being built in which he hide under a wooden construction table. He was found hiding there moments later. The 3 men, tied his arms behind his back and shoot william in the back of the head. Billy was found the next morning by a neighbor. The local police in St. Croix are to classify it as a suicide at the present time. The reason for this is the tourist industry. St. Croix's only economy is tourism. William Fussell is a white man. A white man getting murdered in a black land is not good publicity.
St Croix, an example of what can happen. It is 1972 and St Croix was a very popular tourism destination in the Caribbean. A horrible murder happens on the island. 2 Couples out playing a round of golf are brutally murdered. The island is in turmoil, and its reputation is destroyed. which almost killed the tourist industry there for good. Ever since then St. Croix has hidden many murders for fear of a collapsing economy. The dectives were given critical information to help solve the case, but refused the information, stating it was a suicide. Williams mother Catherine Fussell is devastated. The purpose of writing this is to force St Croix's detive unit to investigate Williams death througly. I will be writing to all USVI State Depts, and the United State Federal Bureau of Investigation. All email correspondents will be mass mailing with all the offices attached thereby acknowledge to all deptpartments. Lets stop the corruption. Lets bring justice to the island.
