When attending a Comic Energy show recently you notice a sense of confidence out of the
organization. And the laughs have been non stop from their sell out crowds.
"Comic Energy is a great show, they kinda make you feel like your part of the show
and their skits are one of a kind", said show-goer Frank Smith from Upper Darby, PA.
He has made Comic Energy part of his 'thing to do' and has attended their shows since
September.
Comic Energy winner of the MyFoxPhilly Hot List as Philly's #1 Comedy Show has little to
frown about these days. Director JD Daly has seen it all; "This troupe was in trouble
as soon as May of this year, we were having cast problems, problems booking shows and
even keeping our season shows together but we kept it together and never doubted the work
we have been doing and since then the troupe has been on a major upswing".
In Comic Energy's latest production aptly titled "There's No Place Like Philly for the Holidays",
Comic Energy spoofs 2 of the greatest christmas films of all time, "It's A Wonderful Life" and
"A Christmas Carol",, by using 2 of their most popular characters to date Billy and Krunkie.
"Billy and Krunkie refer to 2 different types of crowds, the people who are looking for
the insane Dave Chappelle type of humor love Krunkie and those who like just plain fart
jokes are going to love Billy".
Billy, played by Philadelphia actor Frank Fral plays Clarence the angel who is in charge
of watching over George Bailey. But in this spoof Billy plays himself with a goal in mind
other than getting his wings, he's hoping to get some ice cream.
And Krunkie plays Scrooge except as himself, after stealing a Salvation Army Donation basket
he is visited by 3 ghosts from his past who convince him to change his ways.
The show also features all brand new sketch material written by award winning sketch comedy
writer and producer JD Daly who sees Christmas as a time of great fun.
The cast includes Daly, Frank Fral, Mike Ford, James Reagan, Kevin Costello, Carissa Hintze, Rachel Yudell,
and Paul Hackett and performs every Tuesday night at part of Tuesday Night Raw at
Tori's (South Street) and also performs their annual season shows every last Saturday night
at Doc Watson's Pub.
"There's No Place Like Philly For the Holidays" will be performed next Saturday December 22nd at
Doc Watson's Pub. Tickets are only $10 and are available online at www.comicenergy.com or
by calling 215-397-3040.
