Septa
I oscillate daily between "it's alright" and "i'd rather walk". It certainly has potential but this is an example of what drives me nuts. This is in the wiki entry on 30th St.:
In addition, SEPTA's Market-Frankford Line (also known as the "El") and all of SEPTA's Subway-Surface Lines stop at the 30th Street subway station, less than 1/2 block (< 1/10 mile) from the southwest entrance to 30th Street Station. There is a tunnel between the underground subway station and 30th Street Station, but it has been closed off due to crime and vagrancy concerns. A number of the SEPTA system's bus lines also include stops at the station on their routes.
How can we let this happen. I got out of the subway the other day and was like "how the freak do I get to amtrak?" I've lived here for 8 years! This should be a no brainer. The signs suck and there should be a well lit, retail lined, underground tunnel leading right to the main rotunda.
Also, we just installed these LED signs in the El and all it says is the date and time. Where's my "2 minutes to the next train" sign. Studies show that information makes people love mass transit way more.
word. i moved here from new
word. i moved here from new york and it's not even close.
septa petition
Hey, saw your post on your blog about septa. Thought you'd be interested in signing this petition against septa. Every signature helps :)

Please sign the petition if you think Septa's bus service is horrible. Sign it if you are one of those people who ride the bus and it is consistantly over 10 minutes late, or certain times routes never even show up!
Remember that day where you were left out in the rain because Septa was late? THEN SIGN THE PETITION!
Remember when you were late for work because Septa was late? THEN SIGN THE PETITION!
Remember when you decided to walk home from Old City to Bryn Mawr because you knew you'd get home before the bus showed up?
SIGN THE PETITION!!!!

septa
I'm a transplanted Philadelphian to the west coast of Seattle,Wa,and it's funny to read the comments on the problems of septa, I've been here on the west coast for 15yrs now and i would take septa over (Pierce Transit)which runs in Tacoma,Wa and (Metro) which runs the Seattle area any day.The transit system here is so lame I wouldn't know where to begin, for one nothing begins to run until 5am so if you have a job that begins by 6am you can forget about it. and if you get off after 9am well you just better have a friend with a car, because it will be Hill Toe Express baby. Also the buses only come at 1/4 after and the 1/4 till hr.I could go on and on.So Steve just be happy you only have 1/2 block to walk not everyone can afford to be so privileged.

SEPTA running late
I've heard of these two popular methods of birth control:
1. The "Pony Express Method" - pull out on time.
2. The "SEPTA Method" - pull out 10 minutes late (practiced quite often in parts of Philadelphia).
I was in Abington one time, standing right at a designated bus stop for the 55 bus, and the bus driver even pulled into the left lane of Route 611 to drive around me instead of stopping to pick me up!
