...And he hates bloggers too (so there)

Oh Ken Davis hates blogs does he? We're like sooooooooooo shocked. We all woke up this morning to the news that Ken Davis was stepping down as Chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Party. (and honestly, we were shocked not to read it first on CRN)

Can we say, it has been a bad week for Ken? First, Ed Lipkin resigns as the Ardmore Developer, and now this news?

So anyway, Writemarsh and Tony Phyrillas broke the news that we saw first, and well, we are so amused. And we almost couldn't contain ourselves when Mr. Davis announced in his letter that he still hates blog and bloggers. We are shocked! Shocked we tell you! But then again, can it be said what do we know that small group of mean spirited individuals that also thought eminent domain was a bad, bad thing?

LOL, We are sure he was thinking of us along with whomever else he hates in the blogosphere, right? Look, Former Commissioner Ken Davis did do some great things for Lower Merion no doubt, but unfortunately, can it be said part of his legacy is this and eminent domain? In a way, that's sad...

Here is an excerpt of the burning letter courtesy of Writemarh Blog Posting

Dear Republican Leader,
When speaking of those who serve the public in elective or appointive office, President Theodore Roosevelt had this to say, almost one hundred years ago:

"It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled, or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena; whose face is marred by the dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly..."

...After serving as your Chairman for the last four years, I have decided to leave the "arena", and will not seek another term.....I will also not miss, especially, the anonymous, ignorant cowards who hide from behind the internet to spew their hate and venom, without having to reveal their identities or to speak for attribution, on the record; and the so-called "bloggers" self-important "know nothings" to a fault, thinking that anybody really cares what they have to say. These people, as Theodore Roosevelt noted, "know neither victory or defeat" themselves, yet never hesitate to criticize those of us who do.

Why Ken, we are going to have to take exception to those statements and can you blame us? All of us as individuals and as a group came before you during the days of eminent domain, somthing you thought was the right thing for Ardmore. You told us we were wrong, and we took our message to the people, and eventually we won. During that time, you also decided to not run for commissioner again and announced you were retiring.

Blogging is not your preferred method of communication because that is not of your generation. As a matter of fact don't you sound oddly reminiscent of two other pro eminent domain former Lower Merion Twp Commissioners, Messrs. Comisky and Manko? Now Mr. Comsiky we have not heard from since he stepped aside, but Mr. Manko seems to be starting another life for himself where he feels his talents would better serve the people: Philadelphia. Why don't you see if he knows anybody who knows anybody?

Mr. Davis, you will be remembered everntually for the good things you did do, and we are giving you credit though by all accounts we have no real reason to be the least bit charitable, but you need to get over the fact that people disagreed with how you did things. And why do you have such disdain for our inalienable rights? The right to own private property and the right to free speech? Otherwise known as the First and Fifth Amendments? And you know, way back when in the days of lies, damn lies, and statistics, we asked if you would have castigated the many famous Americans, including those who really helped create this country? And why did we ask that then? Because even some of our founding fathers published opinions under pseudonyms and noms des plume, correct? Ben Franklin? Thomas Paine? Others? And famous writers with a social conscience like Samuel Clemens a/k/a Mark Twain? If they were alive and blogging would you hate them too?

Enough on that, here's the giggling goodness from other citizen journalists:

Friday, March 7, 2008 Ken Davis Will Not Run!

Your humble Blogmeister received this letter today from Athan Koutsiouroumbas, the only breath of fresh air that MCRC has had in the past 4 years.

In the letter, Ken explains why he will not be running for MCRC chairman for a third term.

He also blasts the internet and the "bloggers", who "know nothing" and "know neither victory or defeat", for riding his tuchus for the past 4 years ....Hey, Ken.......I also am a "blogger". I guess that throws a wrench in you logic. I also choose not to be anonymous. And self important? Who has shown us more about "self-importance" than the guy who stacks the deck in his favor by appointing a crapload of committee people weeks before the MCRC reorganization two years ago, claiming "chairman's prerogative"?

As I said, I have known defeat. Perhaps, then, I criticize you, Ken Davis, for failing to see beyond the nose on your face–to see that the rank and file engaged committee person is the most important part of MCRC, not you or your last minute "vote-only" appointments.

Hold the applause: Ken Davis is not running

Embattled Montgomery County Republican Party Chairman Ken Davis made it official. In a letter to county GOP leaders dated March 7, 2008, Davis said he will not seek a third term. You can exhale now.

Not since Lyndon Johnson announced in 1968 that he will not seek or accept his party's nomination for a second term as president has such a clueless political figure admitted what everyone around him already knows. His future in politics is over.....In his letter, Davis says he has decided to "leave the arena." It's more like being thrown out the door by an angry mob that has watched the steady decline of GOP fortunes under Davis.

.....Instead, Davis blames his downfall on bloggers, calling them "self-important know-nothings." If you want to see what the problem is with the Montco GOP, take a look in the mirror, Ken.

Toward the end of the 2-page, self-serving letter, Davis admits "stumbles and errors" were made over the past four years. That is the understatement of the century. Stumbles and errors? Davis destroyed one of the most dominant political organizations in the country. The Montgomery County Republican Committee will never be the same after the damage Davis has done.

Good riddance, Ken Davis. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

PA WaterCooler: Ken Davis Will Not Run

We're not gloating Mr. Davis. We actually do feel sorry for you because you didn't see this coming? Not even after the defeat of the potential use of eminent domain for private gain in Ardmore's Historic Business District?
