The Point to close in Bryn Mawr

After almost 7 years The Point will be leaving Bryn Mawr for a new location. Thanks to all of you, it has been an amazing run with over 1450 shows and 140,000 tickets sold. We have become a nationally known venue that has developed the reputation as one of the top listening rooms in the country. A room artists can come and develop their career in front of an attentive, appreciative audience, again, thanks to all of you...

This was the opening paragraph of an email I got the other day announcing the closure of the Point coffeehouse in Bryn Mawr. Then I spotted this Inquirer aritcle on it, so I know it wasn't just a bad dream.

I've long been a fan of music shows at the Point -- even their Tuesday open mic nights are a real treat. They'll be closing up shop with a whirlwind month of great music. You can visit their website for more information, and you can click the "read the rest of this story" link below to see a list of notable performers who've graced the Point's stage over the past seven years.

Here's just a partial list of performers you might have seen at the Point:

I've posted the full text of the email announcement, just in case anyone's interested (it's pretty long -- the bits I've posted here are mere excerpts).

Damn!

We have so few great venues for music in the city and to lose one like The Point hurts.
