She's Coming Home Philly?

Has anyone here seen these "She's coming home, Philly" advertisements that are floating around the Internet and Chicago? I have no idea who's coming, but it is definitely interesting. Something is coming up and it looks big. It's viral marketing at its finest. Here's what Philebrity.com had to say about it:

"This Moment In Viral Marketing: “She” Is Coming Back To Philly, Whoever The Hell “She” Is

If you’ve been on The Book of Faces or The Google or elsewhere on the web lately — and obviously, you have — you may have seen links for shescominghome.com, with the tagline, “Hey Philadelphia! She’s back… Can you guess who it is?” Go to the site, and it’s a woman’s silhouette against the Philly skyline with a countdown clock to the reveal of who “She” is. (As of this writing, 2 days, 19 hours.) Well, we’ve done a little snooping around, and we’ve got two theories on who “She” might be:

First, the real one: The shescominghome.com domain is registered to concert promoters AEG, so we can safely assume whoever “She” is, she is a musical performer of some kind. We called the AEG Philly office — full disclosure, they’re an advertiser on Philebs — and found that either they really did not know who “She” was, or were feigning ignorance. Fair enough. Without the “viral,” it’s just “marketing” and what fun is that? But upon further Internet snooping, we have developed a hunch, and we think that the “She” in question, could be, maybe, Celine Dion. The weird miniature Jennifer Aniston silhouette would seem to back that up, as would this link, which purports that Dion is “back” in 2010 with a series of concerts booked by - natch - AEG. So, yeah, Celine Dion. Who cares.

Second, the better one: That the “She” in question is the long-standing mysterious subject of every “That’s What She Said” joke, ever. Which would be AMAZING. For years, we have been amazed by both the candor with which the infamous “She” reportedly jokes about her sexual exploits, as well as the fact that, after all that nasty stuff, “She” is even actually still in possession of a working vagina. The identity of “She” has been a mystery through the ages, and the idea that she would be coming “back” to Philly opens up a, pardon the expression, Pandora’s box of other questions. It makes the mind wobble. And then reach for penicillin.

And, if perchance “She” would turn out to be Celine Dion and the woman Who Said That, well, that would work out pretty awesome, too."

Well, what do you guys think? Who do you think this mysterious girl coming home to Philly is???

Home Sweet (Virtual) Home

“Good evening, M’am.” The gentleman startled me, as I did not hear him approach as I stood on the darkened street, outside a lovely Victorian era house. “Good evening,” I replied, “I was just admiring your home.” Thank you,” he responded, “but my wife deserves the credit. She did all the work.”

A rather pedestrian conversation, if not for the fact that the “gentleman” I was chatting with was actually an adorable little teddy bear wearing flannel pajamas and a wizard’s hat. (I didn’t dare ask the species of his wife.)

Have I neglected to mention that this chat was in text form, and taking place on my computer screen? Yep, it was just another evening in Second Life, the online 3-D virtual reality world that I have been visiting with all too much regularity.

Oh wait – how rude of me! I haven’t properly introduced myself. I am “Cyn Peccable,” a steampunk Victorian woman of little means but great reserve (or at least that’s how my Second Life profile reads.)

Um…yeah…seriously…I’m waaaay too into this.

But let he who is without a time-wasting hobby cast the first stone…keeping in mind that in Second Life, you could throw that stone haphazardly about in a glass house without breaking a single window -- cool!

Mixed imagery aside, my attraction to Second Life can be summed up in two words: no cellulite.

So, what’s a person to do with their nice cellulite-free avatar? Explore! Shop! Make friends while shopping! Shop! Try on the stuff you bought shopping!

And find a place to live.

While I’ve mastered shopping, and even have a “partner” (my real life husband, who signed on to Second Life just long enough to take me off the market) so far I’ve resisted the urge to settle down.

Not that I’m unfamiliar with others’ residences. While Cyn is a proper Victorian lady, it seems she is also quite the peeping Tom. I’ve peered into houses ranging from haunted to Architectural-Digest-ready.

I’ve seen clam shells for mermaids, post-apocalyptic sheds for those surviving an imaginary blast, and double-wide trailers for wannabe trash.

Not to mention a gigantic undersea rusted-metal seahorse/house that would set Jules Verne’s heart a-racing (if he weren’t dead, that is.)

And plain old normal stuff too. Sometimes a house is just a house.

With all this in mind, I set off to educate myself about the cost of Second Life housing. A quick search gave me the location of a sales area, appropriately named “Home Sweet Homes.” One mouse click later, I had teleported there. (Teleporting = fun!)

Materializing in the center of an expanse of neatly-trimmed grass (that never needs mowing), I found the landscape dotted with model houses of different sizes and styles. And each lot had a large sign stuck in the front yard; if you didn’t fancy the model sitting there, a click on the sign would materialize another in its place.

In a blink of an eye, I conjured up a large 3-story Victorian mansion, complete with wrap-around porch and turret…and an asking price of 6,000 Linden Dollars (the currency of Second Life.)

Oh, did I forget to mention that the exchange of (real) money is a very real part of this virtual world?

The 6,000 Linden price tag of my Victorian dream house translates to about $23 U.S. dollars. A bargain in real life, but pricey for the SL world. And I’m not sure if I’m ready to make that kind of commitment.

I mean, it’s lovely…but why be tasteful, when you can be tacky? Methinks a castle might be more suited to my flights of fancy. As a point of reference, I decide to check out Victoriana Castle, which bills itself as “The Most Beautiful Castle in SL.”

Holy Ice Princess, Batman! Blindingly white and overdone in every way imaginable – Victoriana Castle has more spires than I can count. Its curlicues have curlicues! My blood sugar level rises to a dangerous level, forcing a quick teleportation escape…

…to “Elite Estates” -- where one can buy a castle of more modest proportions. In fact 1,500 Lindens (about $6) will get me my very own a starter castle!

Unfortunately, “Dakota Castle” is unimaginatively rectangular –and its façade bears a strong resemblance to cinder block. I half-expected to find medieval-themed dinner theater going on inside. Instead, the interior was empty, if slightly dungeon-esque (which could be a positive, depending on what one is into.)

Still…hmmm…even cinderblock could be made cozy with the right furnishings. After all, isn’t décor what makes a house (or castle) a home?

So, a new mission – furniture shopping. To that end, I enlisted the companionship of my sister, AKA “Angelique Nightfire.”

We meet in the small but elegant showroom of “Capalini Fine Furnishings.” There we playfully threw our avatar-selves onto an extremely tasteful Federal style sofa; then each chose a side of a four-poster bed (and just as when we were children on family vacations, I threatened her with a karate chop if she strayed over to my side.)

Then somehow, we veered off course. The next thing I knew, we were wearing diver’s suits outside a pirate bar. Once inside said bar, Cyn put on a kimono and served Angelique a gin and tonic.

Such is the waking-dream semi-hallucinatory Second Life experience.

Leaving Angelique to nurse her virtual hangover, my next stop was the vast showroom of “Prim Goddess Creations,” which seemed prepared to fulfill my every interior decorating need…as well as needs I never knew I had. Like – what exactly is a “cuddle rug”?

(Leading to the philosophical question: Why do avatars feel a need to cuddle anyway?)

In the bedroom section, I spy a mahogany sleigh bed just like the one in my real life bedroom (except in SL, the bed is made.)

And over there -- toilets! I can’t resist the urge to walk into a bathroom display and touch the handle. It flushes! (Or more accurately, the picture of water in the bowl rotates in a clockwise fashion for a few seconds.)

Very amusing, but does it sell? In all my spying into virtual houses, I have never encountered one with a bathroom – for good reason. A virtual bathroom would only prove a rude reminder of the real life bathroom that one should be cleaning instead trying on that dreamy flowing gown.

So…bye-bye Prim Goddess!

But then I find myself in a store called “Dust Bunny”…

...prompting a glance towards the real life dust creatures forming at my feet. Seems no matter how hard one tries, some things (like housework and Britney Spears) are inescapable. Sigh.

After all my “research,” I conclude it’s easier (and cheaper) to keep my avatar homeless.

Thus resigned, I fly off to a small deserted island I’d scoped out on an earlier expedition; where a creative somebody-I’ve-never-met has turned a lighthouse into their home, complete with a life-sized (and very cuddle-able) stuffed bunny sitting by the bed.

By afternoon’s end, my avatar lies stretched out on a pillow-laden hammock by the water’s edge. All alone, save a small squirrel darting around the base of a nearby tree. It eyes Cyn suspiciously, but I don’t care.

Ah, yes…(virtual) life is good.

(If you made it here, to the end of the article, first of all, congratulations on your perseverance! Secondly, if you look closely in the last snapshot, you'll see the "squirrel" of the article was really a tiny rabbit. But I thought I had just one too many bunnies in my tale, and there is a SL squirrel that I'm fairly certain has been stalking me...so...

Hey, it's all pretend anyway!)

"Rogue Powerleveling Guide

" 39-41: Earth elementals down south in the badlands are awesome here, so easy to kill, despite the fact that there’s no casters amongst them, and the stones they drop will make u rich by the vendors. There’s also lesser elementals a little east of Kargath, which are a little lower in lvls, but doesn’t drop quite as good, and there’s usually people on those… 42-43: Nagas at the southern beach on the island of the feathermoon fortress, we all love nagas, and these are quite good, many casters among them, only bad thing is the disarm they sometimes do, but considering their low armor/health it's still a very good place! 44-47: Nagas are simply the best thing to grind, here u move on to the cave on the isle of dread also in Feralas, it's the fastest grinding I've ever done there, so awesome... Only very rarely do other players come, and those that do come, come to do a fast quest then they leave again! 44-45: Ogres down south in Badlands, next to the earth elementals, they drop a bit of mageweave and silver, but as all other ogres they die really fast, so they are nice to grind. A lot of casters amoung them which is always nice. Mithril spawn in the cave often and a chest every 15 minutes. 45-47: Ghosts at Azshara lvl 45-46, Good at that lvl, half casters, half warriors, none of them have any special attacks so it’s very easy and u won’t get surprised by some high damaging spell. wow power leveling Should u decide to want to grind these at an even higher lvl, u should keep in mine that there aren’t a lot of them, so u’ll have to combine it with the satyrs just north of there… But at 45-46 there should be plenty to keep u going on them alone! Good mageweave drops, some silver and an occational rare mob. " " I did not find grinding to be very useful up until these lvls, there’re tons of quests all over the place which lvls you quite fast… I may be wrong on this, but I just don’t think it is fast enough to grind for 2 hours to get a lvl at lower lvls, it can be done faster with quests. I apologise for the lack of spots from 20-28, however it has been so long since I’ve been low lvl that I can’t remember the good spots, other than those I have written. 18-20: Bristlebacks just north of Camp Taurajo in Barrens, there’s so many of them you can’t run dry, and they die quick… If your horde you will have a couple of quests here as well, and if your alliance, Well, you don’t wanna be here if your alliance. 21-23: Duskwood, cemetery, south of Darkshire, half casters half warriors, an alright grinding spot with good drops… I always find my first blue item here on all of my chars. buy wow gold Wool and silk cloth are also a nice addition at this lvl. This place is mainly for Alliance though… 22-24: Dunhold keep, in Hillsbrad foothills, not a very known place, rogues and horde have a quest there, but that's it... they are humanoids, die really fast, drop a nice amount of cloth and there's tons of them. 28-32: Centaurs, in thousand Needles, a little north of Freewind post. gold wow There’s 28-30 centaurs outside the cave, and 30-32 centaurs inside the cave, a very nice place, they die really quick and drop nice silk cloth. Although this is a horde dominated area, it work for alliance as well, there isn’t as many horde as you would think. 29-31: The underground of raven hill cemetery, in Duskwood, there are 2 areas of underground, one with skeletons and one with zombies, and they are connected through a small and hidden path at the end. This is a very good place to grind, start from one end and go to the other, then back again. guild wars gold It’s an alliance area so if you do it at primetime, you will have some problems if you’re Horde. I did it with my shammy though, and it still works, usually if you leave them alone they will leave you alone as well. 32-34: Beasts, and lots of them, do the hunter quests from Nesinwary’s camp in Stranglethorn Vale, and then keep grinding those beasts after you have done the quests… Especially the Mistvale gorillas, these are probably the only beasts in Stranglethorn Vale that you don’t get a quest to kill, and funny thing, they are the best ones to grind. 34-36 Kurzens compound, all these fellows are really good to grind, specially once you get the sword from Scarlet monestary. They also drop fadeleaf from time to time which is always appriciated. cheap wow gold A chest spawns every 15 minutes, can contain blue items, overall a very good spot! 34-37: Basilisks, yes, you heard me, basilisks, the shimmering flats in Thousand needles. Go the ruins all the way down south of the shimmering flats, those are the ones you want! They are pretty good to grind at these lvls, you’ll never run dry cause there’s just so many of them, they don’t have much life and drop some decent vendortrash. 37-38: The water elementals on the haunted island in stranglethorn vale is very good grinding at these lvls, the only downside at these are the drops, they really suck, but u don’t grind for loot, u grind for xp. Another two bite the dust…

"Well, we lost another two people from the guild. Sure, we lose some here and there because people don’t feel we progress fast enough. This time, it wasn’t guild progression, it was chat. Oh wait, we’ve lost people before due to chat. After venting to Tenryuu, he told me to blog and get it off my chest. He told me to post it as is, but I’m taking a cue from Ratshag and blocking out the names of the innocent. wow gold Actually in this case, I’m blocking out the names of the idiots. Cast of Major Characters: G - an officer (her friend was the idiot that applied) Th/Mon - an officer (married to G) Cy - another officer Lu - another officer Se/Sec - member who left Dy/Cha - Se’s wife who left Prior to this screenshot, Th made some comment again about getting sexual favors from his sister in guild chat. Se/Sec mentioned that guild chat was not appropriate and then the craziness started. Instead of accepting responsibility or toning down guild chat, G defends what her husband says and states that people should go directly to the offending person. You’ll notice she then tells Sec to l2wordfilter when his kids are around; I don’t think there’s a word filter for saying you got a hand job or a BJ from your sister if they are separated with a space." "Have you ever rolled and cut out cookie dough only to find that it had become stuck to the counter top or board. wow gold If you try to scrape up the cookies with a spatula they deform and moosh together. Parchment paper to the rescue! Try rolling out the cookie dough on lightly floured parchment paper, and then cut out cookies as usual. The cookies will be much easier to remove from the parchment paper. By the way, the Tauren Chef recommends lining your baking sheet with parchment paper when making Delicious Cave Mold Cookies, Gingerbread Cookies, Winter Veil Cookies, and the canine and feline Hunter Pet Treats. Neater brownies and bar cookies: Brownies and bar cookies can be difficult or messy to remove from baking pans. It will be a lot easier and result in less mess if you line the pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper. The best way to do this is to turn the baking pan upside down and shape the aluminum foil or parchment paper over the bottom of the pan, leaving an extra inch or two around the edges; now turn the pan right side up and lower the shaped aluminum foil or parchment paper into the pan and press it into the corners. If the recipe requires a greased pan, grease the foil or paper. wow gold Fill with batter and bake as usual. When the brownies or bar cookies are baked use the extra foil or paper around the edges as a handle to lift them out. Parchment paper is sold in rolls and in pre-cut sheets. You will usually find it in the same section as aluminum foil and waxed paper. " "One of the most time-consuming and least enjoyable parts of baking is the clean up. world of warcraft gold Well, here are some tips to make that unavoidable task faster and easier. Cleaner cookie baking: Whether your cookie, biscuit, bread, or other recipe calls for a greased or ungreased baking pan one thing you can do to ensure that your baked goods do not stick to the pan and to reduce or eliminate cleaning is to use parchment paper. Parchment paper is nonstick oven-proof paper that is usually oven-proof up to 450° F. (Check the box for the manufacturer’s instructions on the maximum temperature.) Note: Parchment paper and waxed paper are two different things. Do not attempt to bake cookies on a sheet lined with waxed paper; the waxed paper will smoke! Line your cookie sheet or baking pan with parchment paper and your baked goods will cook more evenly and will slide right off. Faster cookie baking: Want to speed up your cookie baking. wow gold kaufen Maybe you only have one cookie sheet. Rather than waiting for your first batch of cookies to finish baking, you can fill a second sheet of parchment paper with your second batch of drop cookies or rolled cookies. When your first batch is done, slide the parchment paper and baked cookies off the pan, and then slide the sheet of unbaked cookies on. " .

Blizzard creates pages for BC dungeons and raids

"Along with creating dense areas of sprawling architecture, World of Warcraft also creates areas far from the heart of civilization. These wilds need to feel threatening, yet beckon players in for adventures. The Razorfen Downs do just that. Here's how the designers originally described the area: Hidden in the desolate hills of the southern Barrens, along the Gold Road to Thousand Needles, is a massive thicket of gargantuan roots and earth. wow eu Deep in the heart of this tangled maze of thorny vines and dusty caverns is Razorfen Downs, the stronghold of the Razorfen tribe of quilboars. Inside await the powerful honor guard and cunning necromancers that guide the quilboar armies of the Barrens. But further within this network of tunnels lies a darker evil, as legions of undead walk unmolested beside the quilboars, suggesting a dark alliance between the Razorfens and the Scourge. From that description the art team got to work creating concepts for what this region would ultimately look like. They began with something like this: What these screenshots fail to convey is a sense of scale. wow euro The archway stretches high overhead, as though you were entering a cathedral of thorns. Characters are dwarfed by the nature around them! The art team worked hard to make this area feel ominous. In their words: Razorfen needed to feel very primitive, edgy, and very threatening. You're surrounded by these huge thorny vines that do a great job of breaking up the silhouette of the skyline. In addition, there is also a canopy of smaller vines that you adventure beneath. wow power leveling We really like the way these dark shapes played off the sky colors, with their chaotic and claustrophobic formations. Players will have fought the quilboars for quite a while before they reach this location, but here they'll find them organized and regimented... a far greater threat than those wandering aimlessly around the Barrens. The quilboars seem to grow out of the thorns around them, inseparable from their environment. wow powerleveling As the art team puts it: Read more here: "Continuing their trend of improvements no one actually asked for (hello, combat log!), Blizzard today released pages on all the raids and dungeons to be found in Burning Crusade, with the notable exceptions of Magister's Terrace and Sunwell Plateau (but maybe they'll come later). For each dungeon or raid, the pages have the following information: location, number of players, level range, associated faction, theme (Karazhan, for instance, is ""Haunted Wizard's Tower""), key, reset timer, number of badges, abbreviation, final boss, and a link to the loot table. None of that information is new to experienced players, but it will probably help those new to the high-level game. The real draw of the pages, for me, is the nice explanations of the backstories behind some areas and individuals, which is helfpul because I haven't fully played Warcraft III yet (though I am working on it; I'm in the middle of the expansion right now). Blizz also promises that the pages will feature dedicated screenshot galleries for each instance soon. Some of the abbreviations are not consistent with what I'm used to. For instance, Old Hillsbrad is given as ""Old Hills;"" I've never seen anyone say that. wow power level Not that I talk about that place a lot, but usually it's OHB. They put ""SC"" for what I always call ""SSC,"" and although I have seen ""Ramparts"", ""HFR"" or ""Ramps"" is more common on my server. But the rest of the information is (of course) correct, and I always like it when Blizzard fleshes out their sadly neglected official site. Neglected in some parts, anyway -- have you had a look at the class descriptions lately. " .

The Artistry of World of Warcraft: The Scarlet Monastery (PC)

"A savage jungle rages against ruins and sparse settlements in this dense wilderness By Dave Kosak | Nov. 24, 2004 There's something fascinating about the primeval wilderness. Literature is full of quests that begin in civilization and take adventurers through the darkest heart of untamed jungles. So, naturally, the theme crops up all the time in videogames. wow eu World of Warcraft has its own untamable wilderness, aptly named Stranglethorn Vale. Here's the story behind it: Stranglethorn is a vast jungle south of Duskwood. Once the extended homeland of the mysterious jungle trolls, Stranglethorn is now dotted with ancient ruins and crumbling troll cities. In recent years, the humans of Stormwind attempted to forge trade routes through this savage jungle. Though they did manage to establish the small port town of Blackwater Cove, they were quickly overwhelmed by a crazed pack of trolls and driven back to their homeland. wow euro In the wake of the humans' departure, the crafty goblin Trade Princes arrived on the jungle's shores and quickly set up their mining and deforesting operations. The goblins have maintained a tenuous hold over these remote facilities, but they remain threatened by the jungle trolls' growing obsession with purging their ancient lands of any and all foreign invaders. The region was among the first that the art team tackled. Preliminary concepts emphasized how the jungle just seemed to devour everything it its path: Read more here: "The heritage of real-time strategy games and the long development cycle for World of Warcraft gave the team at Blizzard ample opportunity to flesh out the game's backstory. One tale of particular interest revolves around our next location, the Scarlet Monastery. wow power leveling The priests and monks who inhabit its walls once defended the Alliance against the undead scourge... but their own fanaticism raged out of control. These days they're enemies of Alliance and Horde alike, torturing and raiding for their own ends with warlike ferocity and religious zeal. Here's how the team described the Scarlet Monastery in a nutshell: The overzealous organization called the Scarlet Crusade holds the monastery as one of its chief headquarters. wow powerleveling Nestled in the mountains north of the Undercity in Tirisfal Glades in Lordaeron, it is a massive cathedral divided into four quadrants. Once a noble branch of the Silver Hand, the Scarlet Crusade has become so single-minded in its pursuit of the Undead Scourge that it has lost sight of its original mission to uphold the standards of justice. The order is now blind to its own downfall, and strikes down human and orc alike, sallying forth from its stronghold in the Scarlet Monastery to vanquish all invaders of Lordaeron. Both the Horde and the Alliance consider these zealots as dangerous as the Scourge that they profess to hunt. Various members of the upper echelon of the Scarlet Crusade make their homes in the Monastery, as do several of the order's most revered leaders. wow power level The contrast between the straightforward exterior of the building and the twisted interior visually demonstrates the ideals that started the crusade with the nightmare that it's become. More interior shots are available on the next page. Read more here: .

The Ethics of Buying World of WarCraft Gold

"Here is a great article discussing the pros and cons of being able to buy World of Warcraft Gold so readily through third party currency providers. PAY real cash for virtual goods. That is to what many players like Wang Kang Yi have resorted to quicken their progress in online games. The 25-year-old administrative executive shelled out $200 in March this year for 500 gold credits in World of Warcraft, a popular massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). And he thinks the money was well-spent. 'I couldn't afford to be glued in front of the computer for at least two hours at a stretch since I was already working full time. 'By doing my sums, I realized that it would take me about 100 playing hours to earn that amount of gold. Buying became a better alternative,' said the game fanatic. Replete with night elves, Orcs and dwarves, World of Warcraft is set in a fantasy world not unlike Tolkien's Lord Of The Rings. Thousands of players interact with one another in real time through the virtual environment, and earn gold credits through their team conquests. For Mr. wow eu Wang, adding the virtual currency he bought to his own hard-earned cache of gold meant that he could finally purchase his object of desire - a horse worth a princely sum of 900 gold credits. He is not alone. Many computer gamers around the world are paying hard cash to gain an edge over others in the online fantasy world. Other games which attract such ""trading"" include Maple Story, Ultima Online, EverQuest, Asheron's Call and Star Wars Galaxies. Players have been known to buy virtual money, rare items in the game or even entire characters with their associated powers and accompanying weapons. wow euro As it takes a lot of hard work, not to mention time and luck, to attain these virtual goods, the high prices they command seem reasonable. However, World of Warcraft player Eric Chua thinks otherwise. ""It does take a lot of time and effort to build a character to a level where you actually start to enjoy the gameplay,"" said the 29-year-old advertising brand manager. ""But the current market rate is just not something I would be willing to pay for."" A scan of auction site Ebay produced over 700 results for various items of the game on sale. The highest-priced item is a World of Warcraft account sold by a New Yorker for US$5,000. wow power leveling " "to raise the game level of a character in the shortest time, known in gaming parlance as ""leveling"", online hawkers are charging up to US$360. These vendors will log into your account and play the game for you. Indeed, the industry is so lucrative that China-based sweatshops and established companies, such as Miami-based Internet Gaming Entertainment (IGE), have been set up just to 'farm'. The word is used to describe the activity of playing the game to acquire as much gold or items as possible for resale. wow powerleveling Selling skills and weapons online, however, is frowned upon and banned by Blizzard Entertainment, the games developer of World of Warcraft. It has threatened to take legal action against individuals 'who engage in this inappropriate activity'. World of Warcraft was launched late November 2004. Since March of 2005, the company has removed more than 800 players suspected of farming from its servers. Nonetheless, World Cyber Games organizers Herman Ng can understand where the allure of buying gold lies. wow power level ""MMORPGs have very immersive environments. So whatever you possess in that world, your friends can see it. To obtain a rare item or to be an advanced player gives you bragging rights in a way,"" said the 27-year-old. Others, however, feel adding real money into the equation taints the value of the play and destroys the enjoyment of the game. Audio engineer Willy Goh, 28, said: ""I would never buy World of Warcraft Gold because the fun is in the journey. The sense of achievement is in finally killing that ultra-big monster, not in amassing items or cheap gold."" IT writer Chan Chi-Loong, 29, agrees. ""Some people might feel that their time is precious, so to get the maximum enjoyment from the game, they pay for a short cut to the process,"" he said. ""But if you get to the advanced level too easily, it loses its value. In that sense, I prefer to just enjoy the game for what it is."" " .

"The Seven Kingdoms

"Strom continued to act as the central hub of Arathor, but as with Dalaran, many new city-states arose across the continent of Lordaeron. Gilneas, Alterac, and Kul Tiras were the first city-states to arise, and although they each had their own customs and commercial workings, they all held to the unifying authority of Strom. wow gold Under the vigilant watch of the Order of Tirisfal, Dalaran became the chief center of learning for magicians throughout the land. The Magocrats who ruled Dalaran founded the Kirin Tor, a specialized sect that was charged with cataloguing and researching every spell, artifact, and magic item known to mankind at the time. Gilneas and Alterac became strong supporters of Strom and developed mighty armies that explored the mountainous southern lands of Khaz Modan. wow lvl service It was during this period that humans first met the ancient race of dwarves and traveled to their cavernous subterranean city of Ironforge. The humans and dwarves shared many secrets of metal-smithing and engineering and discovered a common love for battle and storytelling. The city-state of Kul Tiras, founded upon a large island south of Lordaeron, developed a prosperous economy based on fishing and shipping. wow gold Over time, Kul Tiras built up a mighty fleet of merchant vessels that sailed throughout the known lands in search of exotic goods to trade and sell. Yet even as the economy of Arathor flourished, its strongest elements began to disintegrate. In time, the lords of Strom sought to move their estates to the lush northlands of Lordaeron and leave the arid lands of the south. wow leveln The heirs of King Thoradin, the last descendants of the Arathi bloodline, argued that Strom should not be abandoned and thus incurred the displeasure of the greater citizenry, who were likewise eager to leave. The lords of Strom, seeking to find purity and enlightenment in the untamed north, decided to leave their ancient city behind. Far to the north of Dalaran, the lords of Strom built a new city-state which they named Lordaeron. wow level service The entire continent would take its name from this city-state. Lordaeron became a mecca for religious travelers and all those who sought inner peace and security. The descendents of the Arathi, left within the crumbling walls of ancient Strom, decided to travel south past the rocky mountains of Khaz Modan. Their journey finally ended after many long seasons, and they settled in the northern region of the continent they would name Azeroth. In a fertile valley they founded the kingdom of Stormwind, which quickly became a self-sufficient power in its own right. " .

"Ironforge - the Awakening of the Dwarves

"In the ancient times, after the Titans departed Azeroth, their children, known as the earthen, continued to shape and guard the deep recesses of the world. The earthen were largely unconcerned with the affairs of the surface-dwelling races and longed only to plumb the dark depths of the earth. wow gold When the world was sundered by the Well of Eternity's implosion, the earthen were deeply affected. Reeling with the pain of the earth itself, the earthen lost much of their identity and sealed themselves within the stone chambers where they were first created. Uldaman, Uldum, Ulduar... wow lvl service these were the names of the ancient Titan cities where the earthen first took shape and form. Buried deep beneath the world, the earthen rested in peace for nearly eight thousand years. Though it is unclear what awakened them, the earthen sealed within Uldaman eventually arose from their self-imposed slumber. wow gold These earthen found that they had changed significantly during their hibernation. Their rocky hides had softened and became smooth skin, and their powers over stone and earth had waned. They had become mortal creatures. wow leveln Calling themselves dwarves, the last of the earthen left the halls of Uldaman and ventured out into the waking world. Still lulled by the safety and wonders of the deep places, they founded a vast kingdom under the highest mountain in the land. They named their land Khaz Modan, or ""Mountain of Khaz"", in honor of the Titan shaper, Khaz'goroth. wow level service Constructing an altar for their Titan father, the dwarves crafted a mighty forge within the heart of the mountain. Thus, the city that grew around the forge would be called Ironforge ever after. The dwarves, by nature fascinated with shaping gems and stone, set out to mine the surrounding mountains for riches and precious minerals. Content with their labors under the world, the dwarves remained isolated from the affairs of their surface-dwelling neighbors. " .

"The Guardians of Tirisfal

"The second Arathorian city-state of Dalaran was founded in the lands north of Strom. Many fledgling wizards left the restraining confines of Strom behind and traveled to Dalaran, where they hoped to use their new powers with greater freedom. wow gold These magicians used their skills to build up the enchanted spires of Dalaran and reveled in the pursuit of their studies. The citizens of Dalaran tolerated the magicians' endeavors and built up a bustling economy under the protection of their magic-using defenders. Yet, as more and more magicians practiced their arts, the fabric of reality around Dalaran began to weaken and tear. wow lvl service The sinister agents of the Burning Legion, who had been banished when the Well of Eternity collapsed, were lured back into the world by the heedless spellcasting of the magicians of Dalaran. Though these relatively weak demons did not appear in force, they did sow considerable confusion and chaos within the streets of Dalaran. Most of these demonic encounters were isolated events, and the ruling Magocrats did what they could to keep such events hidden from the public. wow gold The most powerful magicians were sent to capture the elusive demons, but they often found themselves hopelessly outmatched by the lone agents of the mighty Legion. After a few months the superstitious peasantry began to suspect that their sorcerous rulers were hiding something terrible from them. Rumors of revolution began to sweep through the streets of Dalaran as the paranoid citizenry questioned the motives and practices of the magicians they had once admired. wow leveln The Magocrats, fearing that the peasants would revolt and that Strom would take action against them, turned to the only group they felt would understand their particular problem: the elves. Upon hearing the Magocrats' news of demonic activity in Dalaran, the elves quickly dispatched their mightiest wizards to the human lands. The elven wizards studied the energy currents in Dalaran and made detailed reports of all demonic activity that they beheld. wow level service They concluded that although there were only a few demons loose in the world, the Legion itself would remain a dire threat so long as humans continued to wield the forces of magic. "The Puller

"Ranged Weapons The puller should have some sort of thrown weapon or ammunition they can use to ""wake up"" the monster at a distance. This will allow you to pull monsters much more easily than just walking up to them. wow honor Even Warriors can use Thrown Weapons of some type. Pulling Melee Monsters Pull Melee Monsters to the front of the party so that ranged party members can fire on them. If you pull a monster behind your party, your ranged members will get ""failed"" error messages. guild wars gold Pulling Ranged/Magic Monsters The monster will only be pulled when the puller is out of the monster's range. Since they are ranged, unlike melee monsters, the puller will need to run past the party to lead the monster into the middle of the party. Sometimes the puller will have to run a LONG way. Keep looking behind you to make sure the monster is in the right location. cheap wow gold Then turn around and fight. Make sure you do not blindly run into additional monsters while running away. Pulling to a Location If you are traveling to a destination, such as to the end of a mine, you will have to continue to move your camping spot forward as the monsters are cleared. wow level up The puller should tell the group when to move up and where to stop " .

March 12th PTR changes

A new PTR build hit the test realms today, and just in time for the second stress test that'll be getting underway later tonight. A few of the big highlights:

  • The Druid Cyclone spell has had the range reduced to 20 yards, from 30 yards.
  • The newly purchasable epic gem crafting patterns have had their prices dramatically increased. For example, the epic gem patterns used to cost 1.5g each to buy, now they're 50g each. This will make them harder for casual players to acquire.
  • A few BoP crafted items have had a profession requirement of 350 placed on them.

All in all, it looks like Blizzard is winding down the changes. They seem to be targeting some very specific areas right now, and the list of changes each week is getting shorter and shorter. This might mean the patch will be going live soon. And remember, as soon as it goes live, we'll select a winner from the Patch 2.4 release date contest we held.

Any thoughts on the cyclone change? I for one am happy, considering how I hate being cycloned in arena battles.

Village Voice talks with WoW adult film

With over 10 million people enjoying World of Warcraft every day, there are many different sub cultures that have sprung up in the game. There are guilds based on religious fundamentals, democratic principals, corporate structure, and any other type of social grouping and cause you can think of. One of the more interesting social phenomena that has popped up is the adult orientated content.

Of course this content is not produced by Blizzard, and based on legal action mentioned in the article, they don't want their name attached to this content. And that is completely within their right to do so. In fact, it's a smart move for a company that wants to encourage people of all ages to play their games. However, Blizzard's objections to the subject matter have not stopped adult film producer Dez from talking with the Village Voice's Bonnie Ruberg about his film series.

Read on after the break for a review of the interview and further thoughts.

The Village Voice (NSFW) sits down with Whorelore: Swords, Sorcery, and Sex producer Dez and talks to him about the popular internet erotica he's created. The article covers many different topics of his show, from the production quality of the episodes, to the recruitment of new talent.

It's interesting to note the recent name change of the productions. Last year the erotica was called "World of Whorecraft." However based on legal action taken by Blizzard (or at least strongly hinted at the in the article), the name of the production is now "Whorelore."

In the interview, Dez talks about the production values. Indeed, some of the productions are better done than some cable TV shows. Dez tells about a time that they rented a castle just to shot an episode, and how there are large swaths of content that are not related to the erotica at all, but purely for cinematic and dramatic purposes. Acting is something they do.

Dez also mentions a new talent that he's hired. Apparently a female actress who enjoys World of Warcraft got a hold of him and is now going to be appearing in future episodes of his.

All in all the article is a good read for those interested in this particular sub culture of the World of Warcraft.

I'm interested to know, what do you think of Whorelore?
